Just how do you wangle the truth out of an 8 year old?

He's not a child who lies. He will blab to anything to anyone, and even tells me when I am going to get annoyed with him ('Now, you're not going to like this/yell/get cross Mummy, but...').

However, like most children, I think that sometimes truth, actual events and whim get blurred.

He once said that his PE teacher didn't like him. Now he has suggested HE on Fridays (same day as sports with said teacher, who he now says is 'nice'). How he ever got it into his head about HE I will never know - its not something who have discussed, suggested or even know anyone who does this! He doesn't have problems going to school, is happy when I pick him up and his behaviour hasn't changed recently.

Should I be interrogating him about this or is it one to drop?
