At what age did your toddler start talking fluently (i.e. sentences)?

As above. At what age did your toddler start to talk in more or less long sentences (3/4 word ones)? Did it happen quite quickly?

DC1 at 2y7months or so.
I don't know about others because most the words were so garbled, I couldn't tell the difference between noise and something that was supposed to be a word (speech delay). I imagine 3-4 word sentences happened somewhere between 2yo & 3.5yo.

dd1 talking in sentences by 18 months, dd2 earlier about 16 months.

ds 2.3 has speech delay so makes no babbling sounds, but makes a 'unh' sound and is starting to sign a bit.

DS 2 exactly has a few single words and lots of babble so far.

My DS has just about got to this point just now, at 2.2. In the last week or so we have had quite a few 3-4 word sentences. I love this stage!

mejon apparently if they're learning two languages they take longer to talk as they're just taking it all in at first. And then they suddenly come out with it all, in both languages!

It was 18 months if not a bit before. She's now 2.7 and speaks brilliantly - the downside being the back chat! "Mummy I'm not impressed with your behaviour, will you just relax" is one such example! Confused

DD is 2 tomorrow and over the past 3-4 weeks her speech has developed hugely. She's gone from single words to three -four word sentences ie daddy on a bike or iPad please mummy (oh dear!).

familyfun · 25/09/2012 14:03

dd2 went from 2 words sentences at 17 months like "where daddy", "more grapes" to longer sentences at 20 months like " hungry want grapes please", "doll need bum change".
now at 22 months she chats more, "no mommy dont want to anymore", "where daddy, want daddy time now please".
so a lot of develpoment over 5 months.

DS1 was about 19-20 months when he started talking in proper sentences.

DS2 is looking a bit slower than that, although he is just 18 months and is linking words together.

He and DS1 seem to be able to communicate though, Ds1 translates sometimes which is helpful!
