I have 4 year old ds who has said a few times lately that his brain is telling him things or that there's a person in his head. He can't tell me what he says. I'm a bit concerned. Any one experienced something similar?

Firstly, yes my children have said such things - they are all fine.

Secondly, it is very hard, when you have experience of serious mental health yourself, or within your family, to not overreact when your child exhibits a behaviour you associate with mental health -

What would I do? I don't think I would worry unless there were other behaviours causing me anxiety too. But if my kid seemed relaxed and not worried I think I would probably quietly log it in my own head and move on.

If I were really concerned - I would keep a diary - note what was said and when - time of day, hungry? Tired? Bad day at school etc. I think I would do this for 2 months. THEN I would go to doctors.

I hope that helps.
