"Odd" your DC's are scared of

DS (3.4) is terrified of "I am a rectangle" on Mr Maker! He says it's the voice that he doesn't like and covers his ears and wants me to cuddle him when that bit comes on - he still watches it though. Grin

Any other unusual fears that other DC's have?

DS1 is completely obsessed with toy animals. Is always found clutching 5 or 6. Eats with them, sleeps with them. Etc etc. Take him to a farm and he is TERRIFIED of everything that moves. Even the sheep, that don't even move much. It is bizarre.

Hassled - the stick man ! aaargh!!

My 2 yr old nephew has a list of random things he's scared of. The dancing E-on thingy scares the bejeesus out of him.

Anything with 'googly' eyes in fact. I bought him a Mr Potato Head and he ran screaming from the room. He did get over that one though. Grin

He also hates the Robinsons ad with the dancing juice people.

Bless him, and my poor sister diving for the remote every ad break!

Ah Prisoner, the flying moustache. I forgot about that one. DS was absolutely terrified of that too.
Also I'd just like to point out to all those talking about Numberjacks, the Shape Japer is actually the purple dot with the frowny eyes. The scary man in white is actually the Number Taker.
You're welcome.

Ooh a full house of my dd's fears here .. Hand dryers hair dryers hoovers blenders, the Pinky Ponk, Numberjacks, she's just turned three.

DS (2 and a half) used to be terrified of frogs, even any 'gribbit' noise sent him howling! seems to have left that one behind now though. Now its Fireman Sam when naughty Norman breaks his skateboard my DS gets ever so upset , pointing and crying "oh no oh no brokwn" ??

Unwrapping presents. Ds is fine with wrapped presents and then being given the contents, but terrified of the transition and of flapping paper. You can imagine how Christmas went when he was 2.3... Luckily we realised the issue and he played with about 3 toys until a few days later when dn unwrapped them for him. Last year he was ok as long as someone else did the unwrapping and he didn't have to look!

Also the gowns at the hairdresser, presumably a similar flapping issue. I just take a clean top for him to change into.

He's just gone off dinosaurs a bit on the grounds that they are 'naughty and scary'. I think it's How Dinosaurs say I Love You which did that.

oh and I forgot: cellotape. really bad, if I forget and I have to wrap a parcel (and I usually have loads of post to do) with him within earshot the RRRRRRRRR of the cellotape being unrolled results in screeching no no nooooooooos then floods of tears and jumping up and down terror, oh dear.

We have a long list.....

Toys that make a noise/talk
Robbie rotten from lazy town
The lion and the bear in teletubbies
All numberjacks baddies Except the number taker (who scares me!)

This list is shorter than it used to be. She has overcome fears of:

iggle piggle
Most nursery rhymes
Hand dryers (mostly)

Dd is nearly 6. We are making progress but it's slow....

But I'm scared/phobic of muppets so I'm not in a position to judge Blush

Up until this year ds (6) was terrified of Timmytime. I can only think it is because timmy gets into trouble a lot as he gets upset by Horrid Henry for the same reason.

19mo DD does not like the little dancing orange poo on the electric advert. She hides in my lap shouting 'no, no, no'... I have no idea why she hates it so much, everyone else seems to love the bloody thing Confused

Niceupthedance · 16/06/2012 12:47

DS loathes anything with a face that isn't supposed to have one - so Thomas tank engine and that ambrosia advert with the ranting spoon/carton/cup.

He also happened to see an advert where a surgeon is operating on someone's brain and making the patient do hi fives etc. it doesn't scare him but he looked at me as if to say 'something not right there'. Should point out this ad was on between Peppa Pigs!
