Tummy Time

How do I get this ball rolling. I put (now 10 w/o) DD on her tummy maybe once a week, she lasts about 30 seconds then cries Sad

She can hold her head quite well when sat on my knee or up on my shoulder, but just cannot seem to lift it even to turn it sideways when on her front.

Am I too early, or am I just not doing it often enough?

Also, I am just popping her down on the mat/blanket. Should I maybe roll something up to put under her chest to raise her head slightly?

Im so confused, and dont want to leave it so long that it becomes even more of a challenge.

my dd hates it too but i did do it every day since the start but not flat on the floor - usually across my knee with one leg slightly higher than the other to create a slope and then my iphone on the floor with baby einstein playing on youtube! worked a treat Got at least 90 seconds a day out of her!

My 11 wk old dd has mixed views, we don't do it as often as recommended as some days she just isn't in the mood. Also I was told not to do it within an hour of eating, which early on ruled out most of the day due to the frequency of her feeds.

She prefers it when lying on her Dad's chest and has a good wiggle then a nap there quite often. She's also starting to enjoy her play mat so I'm thinking of trying her on her tummy on that instead of the carpet as its a bit more interesting and has a mirror.
