Hi,

My DS is 7 weeks old while he doesn't really watch the television he sometimes stares at it etc. Is it harming his development in any way?

OP posts:

Couldn't agree more!
I love that ds2 knows some makaton signs. And used baby Mozart DVDs to give me a much needed 15 mins to grab a shower.
TV most definitely has it's uses Smile

Pediatricians strongly oppose targeted programming, especially when it's used to market toys, games, dolls, unhealthy food and other products to toddlers

So nothing to do with the tv, just an anti-marketing thing.

The research that exists on this is INCONCLUSIVE. Seriously, it does not take a genius to figure this out! in other words, OP if you wish to stick your 7 weeks old baby in front of the TV feel free to do it. You will not find a definite answer her whether it is harming your baby or not. And I think that arguing one way or another is pointless. But it is interesting how polarizing this subject always is.
