Bottle-feeding guilt

Am reading this in floods of tears, why are bottle-feeding Mums always made to feel like they've given their babies a horrible start in life? I combination fed my DS from birth, as I never had enough milk for him, and I switched to bottle only when he was 3 and a half months.

Am I a monster? Is he going to be a monster? This article seems to suggest that the answers are yes and yes.

What is wrong with the article? I think it's very good that studies are being done and think there should be more and more and more. The larger the body of evidence, the better our information is. Nobody complains about formula advertising on telly/in magazines. Surely it's good that we are not just subjected to marketing manipulation but also have access to good independent studies that tell us the truth of the matter so that we can make informed decisions. I think that each individual needs to decide what is best for her, her family and her baby. If that happens to be ff then so be it, you know the pros and cons so no need for guilt. Remember that having the information available for other women and hcps is very important so don't 'hate' it, just accept it.

There is a massive amount of research carried out in this country on lots of stuff. It is important to do research and important for people to make decisions based on evidence rather than poor or no evidence.

If you think about it objectively it is unrelated to you having problems with breastfeeding. You had problems feeding for 3 months (you did breastfeed) and ended up using formula.

Why criticise people for doing research and then publicising it??

Milgril said it better and it's worth looking at the link.
