My children ate curried peas today because I lost my standards temper and cooked it despite protests, then 'aeroplaned' it into their happy little traps.

They have never eaten either peas or curry before today. They are 7 and 4.

I am ashamed.

why? that's great!
mine love curry
they had it at niursery from an early age
we don't do peas in our house because of 36 yr old dh Hmm

I'm ashamed that I never bothered giving them curry or peas because I cannot stand the whining. They eat carrots, cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli, baked beans and ds2 eats sweetcorn, but they both had a vendetta against peas (which I am sure is genetic, as myself and all siblings refused peas until adulthood)

I am ashamed that I spoonfed my schoolchildren.

I am ashamed that I will probably do it again in order to get a meal I enjoy occasionally.

I never tell my children or hubbie whats for tea untill its dished up...
My hubbie is just as bad as the kids and screws his nose up when i say whats for tea.
If they come into the kitchen and ask what im cooking i say i havent decided what it is yet.. lol

In this house we have been known to rename things eg. DS "doesn't like curry" so chickpea curry is called chickpea casserole and lo and behold he'll even eat seconds Hmm

MakemineaGandT · 14/01/2011 20:09

yes norbert - I do this too. Cauliflower is known as "white broccoli" Grin

bumpybecky · 14/01/2011 20:10

mine ate chicken korma for years before they realised it was actually curry which they hated Hmm

bluebump · 14/01/2011 20:11

Oh yes we rename stuff in our house too - things like malt loaf which aren't too bad for our DS we call "cake" and suddenly he eats it, oat cakes are "biscuits" too Grin Mine is younger but I too have been known to do a bit of spoonfeeding if it means he eats!

4yo DD hates peanut butter and mustard, but will happily eat "nutella" and jam sandwiches, or dip her sausage in "yellow" ketchup....
