dd has stopped napping she does sleep through last night for 12 and a half hours! is it normal for her to stop napping so young?

My 2.1 yo DD is going through phases of not napping and has been cutting them out since she was about 18 mo. Some days she won't bother at all but some days she will sleep for nearly 2 hours! It's very unpredictable, sometimes she won't nap for a week.

I'm just going with the flow and letting her sleep if she's tired even if it's fairly late in the day, but then I'm lazy and I hate having to deal with a tired toddler Grin

DD stopped hers at 12 months - she's never been much of a sleeper, though.

DS is 20 months and is in the process of dropping his naps. Some days he'll nap, but then nothing for two or three days. We've almost night-weaned him now so he is sleeping for longer at night.

i see, thing is i like her in bed 7-7.30! so no napping after 3! last night she was so tired she went to bed at 6.30! i don't have much choice but to go with it i can't force her to sleep even though she'll be in a much better mood if she did, i put her in the cot anyway for half an hour -45mins she can at least have a rest and quiet time!

sorry, what does night weaned mean?!

Night-weaned is when they stop BF at night either on their own or usually with a bit of gentle encouragement.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's likely to pass fairly soon. Seems like no two weeks are the same with my DD.

Mine both slept through the night and stopped napping at about 2. They would still fall asleep on car journeys but on a usual day they would keep going- no tears etc

It's a real asset. Consider yourself lucky.
