DD goes off in a world of her own and can't be snapped out of it!

My DD is 2.8years old. She is very clever in most areas (development check from HV confirmed this).

BUT her imagination is a bit too good! She will go into her make believe world. For example, she is "mummy". You can't even call her by her real name, and she won't answer it, even if she isn't concentrating (ie she won't forget she is mummy and answer to her own name).

This morning, she didn't have any breakfast because she "was already making breakfast" with her play food.

I know make believe play is good, but she just doesn't seem to know how to stop once she gets into it!

Is this normal? Its hard to explain how she is really,. But I am not the only person who has noticed her

Yes it is normal. Dd2 was a yorkshire terrier for about 6 months running at that age. She now has tigers who live in our bathroom and fit in your pocket and wants to be 'the lion man' when she grows up.
