DD (2.6)has been getting out of bed and playing around for 1-2 hours every evening for nearly a year now.

Rather than doing the rapid return technique and letting her get out of bed in the first place, we are now trying to keep her in bed by holding the duvet fairly firmly tightly, so that she can't get out.

Is this a Bad Thing, or has it actually worked for anybody with a similar problem?

Thanks for any opinions or advice

Just to say, totally agree with dropping the nap. We've had the same thing with my ds (2yrs 2mnths) the last few weeks, he's always been great at going to bed but something suddenly changed and he was up and down messing around until about 9pm most nights! Since dropping his nap we are struggling to keep him awake until bedtime, but only for the last hr or so....it was proved today as he seemed really tired so I let him have 1hr at lunch, sure enough he was up and down again tonnight, and just gone quiet now!

WreckOfTheHesperus why can't you just make the room pitch black?
