Had finally decided to call our baby boy Leo but now Im having doubts as we already have little boy called Joe. Im starting to think the names sound too similar but my hubby thinks Im crazy! He says they dont sound the same as the o sound in diff place! Im not so sure. Wot do u think? Do Joe and Leo sound too similar or do they go ok together? Thanks

Only if you pronounce it Loe. I think you should be OK. I know a woman with a Zoe and Chloe - now they do sound the same .

Disenchanted3 · 08/07/2010 09:03

No, they don't. They sound lovely together!

valiumSingleton · 08/07/2010 09:17

No. I love the name Leo. The have 66% of the same letters but arrange in such a way that they don't sound similar.

Alice and Celia share !00% same letters!

that was such a geeky nerdy post!

The look similar(ish) but sound very different. (Unless you get muddled up and call them Jeo and Loe ).

Hedwig3 · 08/07/2010 10:06

They look and sound great together.

Tuschinski · 08/07/2010 10:17

They sound nothing alike, they are lovely together.

Kathleen123 · 08/07/2010 14:54

No.

coffeefestival · 08/07/2010 15:29

What bigbluebump said.

MollieS · 08/07/2010 16:38

As if you needed anyone else to say the same thing - they are both great names. Go for it!

valiumSingleton · 08/07/2010 16:59

My post was the geeky one!

meandjoe · 08/07/2010 19:28

Haha Valium I loved the percentages in your post- very clearly thought out!

And errrm nope, I have a Joe and it in no way sounds like Leo! So go for it, they sound very sweet together.

soon2be4 · 09/07/2010 10:29

Leo is a gorgeous name. Great choice, love it!

yellowflowers · 09/07/2010 12:18

Actually I think they are similar. My dad is Joe and I love the name Leo and have been having the same worries.

BridesheadRegardless · 09/07/2010 12:25

I love the name Leo.

But I persoanlly wouldn't have Joe and Leo.

The O sound is so strong in them both. j-O.
le-O, I think they are too similar.

Also written down they don't look right together. J and L look like reversed letters and then you just change the oe to eo.

I'd avoid.

soon2be4 · 09/07/2010 12:37

Uh-0h! Doubts creeping in again!!

I think they sound great together! Not too similar at all. Nearly just stole Leo as a possibility for the one I'm expecting, but then remembered our surname begins with 'L', bother!

zozzle · 09/07/2010 19:02

I don't think they sound at all similar.

sonniebonnie · 09/07/2010 22:20

Well, I do actually think that they sound quite similar, Joe (ends in 'o') and Leo (also ends in 'o')....
