Nature names for girls

mike1969 · 07/07/2010 22:10

Sorry, I know this is an old one - girls' nature names. I really like the name Lilac and Ava but hubby doesn't agree. We both like the name Summer but already have an Autumn dd. Would this be really strange and look over thought? I am thinking it would. Any other inspiration would be very appreciated.

Also, any thoughts on the name Sedona?

Thank you!

Sedona brings to mind tha car model Kia Sedona, sorry.

JaynieB · 07/07/2010 22:16

Isn't Sedonda a car?
Love the idea of nature names though, a chum of mine has a girl called Hazel.
I liked Iris but DP wasn't keen.
My grandad was one of about 7 kids and a couple of his sisters were named after flowers, Pansy and Violet. Touch dated maybe now though?
I like Summer, but think you might be right that combining it with Autumn could seem a bit odd.

Don't like Sedona.

If you mush have a theme I quite like Myrtle, Ivy, Rose, Flora, Holly, that sort of thing.

Maybe Amber, Fleur or Jade would be more your thing.

Am not so good at this

I've always thought Rowan was pretty.

Sedona makes me think of Cidona (Irish apple drink) and also 'sedate'.

Aven? It's a flower.

Summer and Autumn together would be rather odd.

How about:

Briar
Fleur
Primrose
Tansy

Rather than Sedona (a Kia car) how about Sidonie?

paisleyleaf · 08/07/2010 12:13

Where's your 'Beauden' thread gone? - wasn't that you?

Heather is nice.
I like Rowan but your DP (?) didn't think it was 'naturey'
Poppy?

I have a friend from Sedona. I wouldn't chose it, but I guess it could work.....could be funny if your DC ever wanted to go there.

NoahAndTheWhale · 08/07/2010 12:15

I wouldn't choose Summer with another DD called Autumn.

mike1969 · 08/07/2010 13:37

Thanks for all your messages - some lovely suggestions. I agree that Summer wouldn't work and also agree that Sedona is too much like the car. We got married in Sedona so that is why I like it but agree it's a no-goer. Will sit down with your great suggestions with hubby and see what we both like. : )))

Yes, that was me with the Beauden thread (didn't know about Boden at the time) but I asked for it to be removed as suggestions were made that my childrens' names were a laugh and not real. Serves me right for giving them on a forum - got moaned at by hubby.

Thanks again for all your help.

I like Flora and Violet.

My DD is called Summer & i love the name Autumn.

I am considering Autumn if this baby is a girl but i also love the name Ava & Willow. However my husband doesn't like Ava or Willow.
I am aware though that Summer & Autumn would be strange though.

I love nature names, my DD who was stillborn is called Daisy.

Have just been watching Nanny Mcphee. The twins that played baby Agie were called Hebe and Zinnia, which I thought were sweet.
