Really like Ivy and Alice.
Olive is OK but prefer Olivia though I feel there are a lot of them.
Not familiar with Dilys, is it Welsh? Since I don't know how it's pronounced I couldn't say.

OliPocket · 07/07/2010 13:32

We have chosen Alice for ours if we have a girl, so love it.

Olive was near the top of our list too. Our cat is actually called Olive but we like the name so much we were tempted to also call the baby the same. We won't - it's too weird but still a great name (smile)

domesticsluttery · 07/07/2010 13:33

Dilys was the name of my primary school headmistress

Of those names I think I liek Alice best.

Spidermama · 07/07/2010 13:34

They're all fine apart from Dilys which is ludicrous.

WowOoo · 07/07/2010 13:35

Love the name Alice.

Dilys was a huge bully in school so dislike that name by association.

MadreInglese · 07/07/2010 13:35

not keen on Dilys but the others are pretty

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/07/2010 13:36

I like all of the names.

I haven't heard the name Dilys for ages, it's nice to see an oldie but goodie

Sazisi · 07/07/2010 13:42

Alice

autodidact · 07/07/2010 13:42

Ivy- not sure. Like the sound of it but a bit old fashioned, maybe. And the plant can be a rather ugly and straggly.

Alice- Like it. Classic, pretty name that works for any age group. Was perhaps becoming over- popular about 5 - 10 years ago but less so now. My favourite from your list.

Olive- quite cool. Much prefer it to Olivia.

Dilys- I know a very kind woman with this name but I've never thought her name was her best feature.

Firawla · 07/07/2010 14:06

i think dilys sounds quite nice & is a bit different the others are quite popular. all nice though, alice probably my favourite

MaryMungo · 07/07/2010 14:06

Ivy- Like
Alice- Very nice
Olive- On The Buses. Prefer Livy
Dilys- Like, but also like Dorcas and Gertrude, so what do I know

meandjoe · 07/07/2010 14:07

I like Ivy.

LimaCharlie · 07/07/2010 14:10

Alice the nicest

LaDiDaDi · 07/07/2010 14:33

Alice or Dilys.

jacksgrannie · 07/07/2010 14:41

Ivy = great-aunt name only. Don't like the plant either
Olive - awful, always think of Olive Oil or Olive from On the Buses. Olivia however is lovely.
Dilys - not keen - a bit insipid.

Alice - fab name. Will suit a gorgeous blonde beauty, a brunette or a redhead.

And not too popular, but not so unusual as to be outlandish.

Vote Alice!

planner26 · 07/07/2010 15:02

Alice is gorgeous!

coffeefestival · 07/07/2010 15:06

Ivy or Alice.

FranSanDisco · 07/07/2010 15:07

I like Alice, Dilys, Ivy, Olive in that order. Olive and Ivy aren't very nice on my ears I'm afraid and remind me of olive from On the Buses (1970 comedy) and Ivy Tildsly from Corrie (who went all funny with the lips).

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/07/2010 15:15

Alice lovely (DD is Alice ). Also the name of her great-granny

Ivy also nice (DD had one in her class before we moved. My nana was called Ivy

Dilys was my great-aunt (so same generation). She was Welsh. Name just makes me think of her.

Olive makes me think of Olive Oil on Popeye.

tummytickler · 07/07/2010 18:00

Dilys is my favourite - a long time favourite of mine (also Hawys).
Alice is lovely popular, but a classic.
Ivy is nice
Olive is fabby, but too close to Olivia for me.

Hedwig3 · 07/07/2010 18:06

Ivy or Olive for me.

ivykaty44 · 07/07/2010 18:10

I wonder which one I like - hmm Ivy is a grate name and katy is aswell

Ivy Katy is good together or if your surname begins with K - go or Ivy jane

skyeplusbump · 07/07/2010 18:14

i love, love, love, ivy, ours would have been ivy this time around, but its a boy, so not sure it would suit!!!

CuppaPimmsJanice · 07/07/2010 18:19

Ivy - Sweet name if you can ignore the old woman-ness and poison associations

Alice - Quite prim and head girlish.

Olive - prefer Olave, like Lady Baden Powell

Dilys - Norman Price's scatty mum in Fireman Sam. Can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet!

PosieParker · 07/07/2010 18:22

OLIVE
OLIVE
OLIVE

(football chanting style!)

I love that name much nicer than Olivia (because it's very common).

Ivy reminds me of that awful woman from Coronation Street, and poison, Alice is a classically lovely name and Dilys is very sweet.
