Hiya, I absolutely absolutely love the name CASPER but dp isnt so keen, he says people will take the mickey (although i dont see why that should concern him!) my argument is people dont always like everyones names and you cant please everyone, some people that have called my choice have children with names i would never use!!!! what do you's think? is it that bad?????

Friendly ghost and Kaspar Hauser. BUT, I do like it.

HoopyFroodDude · 04/07/2010 09:38

Ghost, sorry

malovitt · 04/07/2010 09:40

The friendly ghost.

Caspian is better.

ditavonteesed · 04/07/2010 09:40

very cute and friendly but unfortunatly a ghost.

HoopyFroodDude · 04/07/2010 09:41

OOOOh Caspian is nice

seenyertoeslately · 04/07/2010 09:41

Actually considered it for one of my boys but was dissuaded by their father because of the friendly ghost. Don't know any boys with this name so don't know about the teasing.

Ronaldinhio · 04/07/2010 09:42

ditto all the friendly ghosts

SandyBits · 04/07/2010 09:43

Well, it reminds me of Knights and the sea and stuff. Which is better than plump rather dappy American ghosts.

ToManyKids · 04/07/2010 09:46

I like cassius, i love cass for short, another reason for choosing (or wanting ) to choose it

Caspar.

Honestly, that little vowel makes all the difference.

I like it.

5DollarShake · 04/07/2010 10:03

Why should people taking the mickey out of his son, not concern his Dad? [hmm}

NBelle · 04/07/2010 10:08

My husbands nephew is called Casper so I think it is a lovely name.

When I first met him of course I made the connection to the ghost for about the first minute. Now I make the connection to a gorgeous little boy.

I would go for it

I dont mean he shouldnt worry about mickey taking, i mean over a name. We have a daughter called cordelia and thats very unusual and he let that name go ahead!! I think the jasper name may be coming from the twilight sage i love jasper but all my children have C names

I dont know what to do, decisions decisons.....

caspar might be a better way to spell and say it, i never thought of that

Caspar is a more usual spelling - I do like the name though (and Jasper too). I know nothing of Twilight however.

PlasticCenturion · 04/07/2010 11:40

thumbwitch is right, Caspar is the more usual spelling. And Twilight is a load of dreary dross and reallly if anybody associates Jasper with such a pile of fetid nonsense then they aren't worth mixing with anyway.

seenyertoeslately · 04/07/2010 11:51

Down in Devon us used to refer to wasps as 'jaspers'. Dunno why.

LetThereBeRock · 04/07/2010 12:15

I love it.

RetroMum1 · 04/07/2010 12:54

My DH loved Casper but I couldn't get over the friendly ghost thing so we went with Jasper (they're known as wasps here to in Gloucestershire but not that many people know that any more. Jasper is 3 months old know and I have heard of someone else using it. I think it will become more to the Twilight saga unfortunately but it is a lovely name and everybody compliments us on it.

emmyloo2 · 04/07/2010 12:56

I don't mind it but much prefer Jasper which I love.

toccatanfudge · 04/07/2010 13:11

don't like Casper - makes me think of friendly ghost

but Caspian is lovely
