Dc3 is going to be born a bit earlier than anticipated on Wednesday, and we're having a last minute wobble over boy's names and are now revisiting names we'd discounted, argh!

We had narrowed it down to William (Will) or Edward

If it helps dc1 is J o n a h
dc2 is G e n e v i e v e shortened to E v i e.

So, wise MNers: William, Edward or ...?

Both lovely names, maybe I would favour William only because it avoids repeating the initial "E". But that is a trivial consideration. Wait until DC is here and see what he looks like.

Good luck.

William. With Edward as a middle name.

It's a lovely name, was my boy's name but I had 3 girls and never got to use it. So you can have it

AmpleBosom · 04/07/2010 00:01

I'm liking William Edward

William is SO much nicer than Edward and far less common.

Jonah, Genevieve and William sounds great.

autodidact · 04/07/2010 07:36

William is a gorgeous name.

I like both William and Edward, but to go with the sibling names I'd go for William.

Agree that William Edward sounds great.

Thanks for every-one's comments and good wishes for next week. Normally am quite definite but blasted pg hormones are haywire!

You have reassured me that whatever we choose, either Edward or William is the right choice. No one... so far.... is saying 'Nooooooo' or 'I can't believe you're not considering Noah.....' (or another biblical name given we have J onah and E vie - people assume she is an Eve)

Edward is my preference, William is dh's although we like both. I do think J onah, E vie and Will sounds better as a sibset tbh.

Dh has raised the repeated "E" sound in Edward which doesn't bother me, but vampire crush mums who do favour Edward do a bit!

Yet I do love Edward.

MN options are Thomas, Gabriel or Arthur.
-My father's middle names are William Thomas
-Gabriel was on the first name option list for a while and I like the idea of naming dc3 after an archangel (since ds1 has got a 'big' biblical first and 2nd names/2nd name is dh's)
-Arthur - just like the old fashionedness of it.

Edward Gabriel or William Thomas would "flow" very nicely

Deemented · 04/07/2010 13:14

Oh i love Gabriel, and think it would go very well with your other dc's names - though i'd have to shorten it to Gabe

loobylu3 · 04/07/2010 19:34

I prefer Edward, although William is fine.
I think Gabriel would sit really well with your sibset though:

Jonah
Genevieve
Gabriel

DinahRod · 04/07/2010 21:14

Darn, it was going so well and now you've introduced doubt

When we got down to the last 3 or 4, Gabriel got bumped to mn status because it's popular now (and might date - already face this with Evie) and dh wondered if it's almost too pretty for a boy's name.

Prefer Edward, but I'd go for William (also lovely) because I think there'll be loads of Edwards because of Twilight.

Good luck!
