Hi there
I am pregnant with baby number 3 just now and do not know the sex of the baby but suspect as i already have 2 boys this will be another boy (have girls names sorted anyway!). The problem is me and DH love the name Mitchell the problem is our surname is Flynn so he would be Mitchell Flynn, does this sound too much like/would he get called Michelin as in the Michelin man????

It doesn't sound at all like Michelin Man imho.

clpsmum · 30/06/2010 17:39

thank you for the reassurance, this is the only boys name we have agreed on so far and when we mentioned it to my mum (third pregnancy will i never lern???) she said it sounds like michelin in which case he'll be bullied at school and since then we've been panicking! thanks for your opinion very very gratefull appreciated xx

I don't think the association would ever occur to me,no matter how many times I said the name.

JumpJockey · 30/06/2010 17:40

I'm afraid I got called that as Mitchell was my surname, even though I'm a girl. Then again my primary school mates were pretty unimaginitive...

LetThereBeRock · 30/06/2010 17:41

Besides I'm not sure that many children would know the name of the character even if they recognise his image.

LetThereBeRock · 30/06/2010 17:41

So in summary go for it.

JumpJockey · 30/06/2010 17:43

Yes, very good point, I was a kid in the (ahem) 1970s so the character was around a bit more.

clpsmum · 30/06/2010 17:48

lol i thought that myself that he is not around so much anymore so kids wouldn't necassarily know it and i suppose whatever he is called he will get lumbered with a nickname and he might turn out to be a she after all this LOL

I don't think anybody under 35 could tell you what the mitchellan man was

Hedwig3 · 30/06/2010 19:15

I would not make that association.

Eastenders did flicker through my mind but you shouldn't let anything like that bother you, it won't occur to everyone!

DandyDan · 30/06/2010 19:45

I would think "Mitchell" from Being Human - which is always a nice thought.

coffeefestival · 30/06/2010 19:52

I wouldn't have thought of it, but even if he did get called Michelin Man it's not a bad nickname, there's nothing wrong with the Michelin Man LOL

seeker · 30/06/2010 20:00

But I don't think that Mitchell Flynn - Mitch Flynn - sounds particularly nice. Sorry

coffeefestival · 30/06/2010 21:41

I think Milo Flynn or Maxwell Flynn would be nice.

clpsmum · 01/07/2010 08:14

Coffee - My dog is Milo Flynn hahahahaha see if i did not have the dog i love the name milo too but don't think i have heart to call baby after (very lazy!) dog LOL

Thanks for all your reassurance not sure if this is the name we will opt for if he's a boy but nice to know we don't have to rule it out!
