Whenever i tell people the girls names i like they seem to pull a face...so i haven't tested them out on any of my family yet.
Babys not due til Dec 17th so at least i have time to come up with more names yet.
Just wondered what people here think of them ? so here they are.
Suggestions for alternatives welcome too, thanks

Miranda
Violet
Verity
Ellora
Laila
Claudia
Larissa/Lara
Carly/Carla/Carleigh
Leig hannah
Hermionie

I have a good friend who didn't tell anyone her name choices which is a great policy if you can. When the baby arrives everyone will learn to love the name as it associates with the child.
FWIW I was unable to do this and discussed my choices endlessly but you have to be ready for someone else to hate the names you love.
My faves, in order, from your list are;
Claudia
Miranda
Violet

Thanks, i was thinking maybe we shouldn't tell our family our final choice until baby is here as like you said by then we'll have named baby and they'll come to like it (hopefully)
I think Miranda and Claudia are my top 2 at the mo too.

Don't tell anyone your choices. I had a whole list of girls names for DC3 and dp shot everyone down and other family members told me their dislikes.
In the end dp named her as he felt a 4 day old child must have a name, took me months to get to like the name.
With DC4(sex unknown) we will have to choose from girls or boys so not sure what we will do.

From your list I like
Claudia
Hermione
Lara

Remember it is your baby and it doesn't matter what any other person thinks of the name

My husband doesn't like any of my names yet either i say yet though because i will continue to persist with them until maybe at least one will grow on him. I hope !
We have 3 daughters and 2 sons, this baby will most definately be the last, but as such i've used many of the names i liked already.
I have a daughter called Imogen which at the time when i named her my family didn't like the name at all and yet they now all seem to think is lovely !

Agreed - don't tell people. When they shoot them down it's hard to stick with the name you wanted. For us, when we told people it somehow spoiled our original favourite girl's name for us.

And... we had decided on Rose for a girl but found out we're having a boy. We told our best friends and then just recently they asked if they could use Rose if they have a girl before we do! Argh! So wish we'd never told them. Although another friend suggested the best response was "sure, you can use it, but we will be using it too! up to you if you want to have the same name!"

I digress.

I like your names esp:

Violet
Claudia

Leighannah - much prefer it with the spelling Lianna.

funnysinthegarden · 30/06/2010 11:01

violet5, we didn't tell anyone our name choices for DS1 or 2 because we didn't want to know what anyone else thought. Thoughtless comments from other people can really affect how you view your favourite name.

All your names are lovely. Pick which ever one you like and ignore other people's opinion.

BTW, I particularly like Hermione

Hedwig3 · 30/06/2010 13:04

Miranda
Voilet
Claudia

are really lovely

Don't tell anyone until birth, and don't let them persuade to you just so they can put you off!

Violet is lovely, will goes well with the Imogen you have already

Chynah · 30/06/2010 15:29

Never tell anyone your choices. We were all decided on ours very early on with both but never told anyone as we didn't want anyones opinions on them and didn't want to suddenly think 'OMG he doesn't look like a (name)' when he/she arrived and have to go round explaining to everyone why they weren't called what they expected!

Magalyxyz · 30/06/2010 15:32

Miranda - I don't like this one
Violet - like it but wouldn't use it/ Juliet nicer imo
Verity - lovely
Ellora - no.
Laila - nice, spelt Leila
Claudia - love this one
Larissa/Lara Lara is lovely, not sure about the ISSa part though
Carly/Carla/Carleigh - like Carly and Carla but not with Leigh on the end
Leig
hannah - prefer just Anna
Hermionie - no.

Verity, Claudia, Lara, Carly, Carla and Anna (if you can use it without the Hs) are all beautiful

Magalyxyz · 30/06/2010 15:33

lovely list coffee festival

MrsBadger · 30/06/2010 15:36

GladioliBuckets · 30/06/2010 20:43
