Dd3 due in two weeks and so far have not had any idea about names for her, started looking and think I might be going a bit silly so far the only ones I have come across that I vaguely like are -

Xanthe
Greta
Ines
Kyle
Lacey
Summer.

Need opinions and suggestions before Dd makes me call her sandwich.

isn't Kyle a boys name?

i like Greta

DuelingFanjo · 29/06/2010 20:16

I love Greta too.

bigstripeytiger · 29/06/2010 20:17

I like Xanthe and Greta.

skidoodly · 29/06/2010 20:19

I like Ines very much.

Greta is nice too.

Xanthe I can't really get excited about. Seems to be trying to hard to be unusual.

Kyle - horrible name for a boy, worse for a girl
Lacey - surname, do not like as first name
Summer - no not like

Champagneforlunch · 29/06/2010 20:27

I would have said Kyle was a boys name to but have come across a few books and websites that have it as a girls name and can't decide about it although do think that a family friend has a little boy called Kyle so might count that out.

Thanks for the posts, I think Xanthe is my favourite but still not sure, as had a holiday in Zante the month before I found out I was pregnant and don't want to have to explain to everyone she was most definitely not conceived there.
Greta was going to be Dd2s name but it keeps making me think of the sound of music for some reason.
Corinne is nice coffeefestival might have to add that to the list to, will swap that for Kyle. The rest of the names I like there people have already taken, really wanted Iona but thats my cousins daughters name.

Xanthe is a fantastic and wonderful name. Even if she wasn't conceived there, can't you just pretend she was.

That would seal the name for me. Haven't been there but it is the most wonderful name. Beautiful sound, classic, historical, rare yet not daft, made up etc.
It's going to look beautiful on the cloakroom pegs within a sea of Ellies/Mias/Evies etc.[all nice names too]

Go for Xanthe.

seeker · 29/06/2010 22:57

Xanthe's lovely.

How about Grace rather than Greta? Softer sounding.

I would spell Ines with a z - Inez.

Kyle Lacey and Summer are horrid - sorry!

ja9 · 29/06/2010 23:06

LOVE Greta

Don't like any of your others... sorry...

mathanxiety · 29/06/2010 23:12

Xanthe -- love, also love Ianthe/Yolanta/Jolanta and Iola
Greta -- love
Ines -- love

Kyle -- dislike
Lacey -- dislike
Summer -- dislike

I think the top three have a different feel from the bottom three.

Champagneforlunch · 30/06/2010 09:21

Going to run them past Dh today, he may need a bit of convincing with Xanthe, although do know he did like Greta last time. Grace I do like but already know 2 one of which is Dd1 best friend.
Did suggest Xanthe to my mum and she just made a face.
Will see how we get on might be back with a new list tonight.
