I've wished since ds (now 4) was a few months old thatI'd given him a second middle name or used a different middle name. I called the registry office when he was just over 1 and was told i was too late to get a new birth certificate and has to be changed by deed poll. I'm still wondering whether to as love the name he didn't have (felt it was too unusual when we named him, therefore didn't used it)and not having anymore children so can't use it next time!

I altered my DD's middle name on her birth certificate when she was 4 months old and now she is 14 months I want to change her first name to a full version of her name (I used the pet form). In fact I've just posted about this. It's been on my mind for months.

If you are still wondering about doing it then do it - hopefully it will be a relief once it's done and I doubt your ds will even notice. I'm not sure how easy Deed Poll is - I'm looking into it and hoping it is easy to do.
