Single syllable girl's names??

3plusbump · 26/06/2010 18:35

I think that a single syllable girls name would sound great as a middle name.

Can you help me think of a few please?

We've come up with:

Rose
May / Mae
Ann / Anne
Jane
Jade
Ruth

Like Rose but it seems to be a default middle name at the mo.
Also like Jane but it was default middle name a gerneration ago.

Can you help me think of some more please?

Erm- ooh tricky.

Dawn
Kate
Hope
Faith

i do like Jane, though- everyone had it as a middle name when I grew up in the 70's, along with Louise, but it is due a comeback.

Jean?

I suppose it depends on the first name....

I like Pearl but DH is not keen...

I'm favouring:

Verity Belle
Verity Grace

DH prefers:

Verity Rose
Verity Kate
Verity Jane

What do you reckon? Any of these or something else??

I like Verity Jane the best.

NiceCuppaT · 26/06/2010 20:15

Eve
Leigh
Kay
Brooke
Paige
Tess

randomimposter · 26/06/2010 20:54

Verity Kate of your final choices, though I would go Verity Tess

mathanxiety · 26/06/2010 21:26

Verity Blythe
Verity Maeve
would be my suggestions.

Verity Jane reminds me of Calamity Jane.
Verity Belle is a bit like Liberty Bell.

Pearl as a mn reminds me of Twangy Pearl The Elastic Girl.

thecoffeelady · 26/06/2010 21:31

Verity Rose is my favourite

Verity Rose is my favourite

wubblybubbly · 26/06/2010 21:39

Verity May?

jujubean · 26/06/2010 21:41

Love Jean but only because DD2 has it as her middle name, it was her Great-Grandma's name. everyone who's heard it has said it sounds fab with her first name and I thought people might be a bit because its quite old fashioned. Rose does seem to be the name of the moment but DD1 has it as a middle name for family reasons, and I really want to shout...I picked this name years ago not just because its popular...grrrr.

diplodoris · 26/06/2010 21:51

Verity Belle too much like Liberty Bell.

SE13Mummy · 26/06/2010 23:40

I wouldn't use Verity Grace or Verity and any other 'virtue' name to be honest. As others have said, Verity Belle sounds like Liberty Bell so I think I'd go for Kate as the middle name.

Having said that I think some two-syllable names would work too e.g. Mary, Charlotte, Iris, Mabel.

How about Verity Violet?!?

Kathleen123 · 28/06/2010 11:57

Verity Hope
Verity Mae

buzzybee · 28/06/2010 12:06

Absolutely nothing wrong with Jane IMO - classic, stands the test of time etc. I like Anne as well for the same reason. Verity is a very classical name to me and somehow seems odd mixed with a more modern name like Kate (i.e. Kate as Kate rather than a nickname). But some might like that juxtaposition!

BertieBasset · 28/06/2010 14:35

Verity Ann or Verity Jane
