It's a boy!! Help me with my boy's short list

Found out today we are having a little boy. Very excited. Current shortlist is:

Edward
Maxim (or just Max)
Thomas
Benjamin
Isaac
Evan
Harry (DH not as keen on this one)

I change my mind every day but now knowing he is a little boy and seeing him in 3D today I am leaning towards Max.

Your thoughts?? Please be gentle....

Love Edward, Thomas, and Evan, but Maxim/Max is gorgeous.

Max is lovely, maybe Maximillian rather than Maxim, or just plain Max. I also love Isaac from your list. Congratulations!

Edward is great but probably very popular and growing in popularity.
Thomas was our first choice until I realised every other boy is called Thomas/Tom.
I Like Max but not Maxim.

Some of those names a pretty popular - a lot of under 10s called Max, Thomas, Benjamin and a fair few Harrys.

I know at least 10 Thomases and Maxes.

Edward slightly less common, Isaac ditto; I know one Evan only.

Of your choices I like Edward the best. Or Henry instead of Harry?

We have a Max and I love it!

He is one of only 3 in a school of 600 children so it is there but not too popular.

He loves it as he thinks it is cool and his friends like it as well.

It is easy to spell.

Ours is just Max but we did like Maximus as we had just watched Gladiator! Damn those pregnancy hormones!!

I also like Daniel (my DS) We had 2 names as a short-list before my 3D scan and decided he looked most like a Daniel so thats what he was "named" at 23weeks!

Thanks! I love them all but leaning towards Max. Not too worried about popularity to be honest because all the names i like are popular.

More worried about a name which will see them through adulthood.

I really love Maxim and Edward. Benjamin, Thomas and Isaac all nice too. Not fond of Harry or Evan.

Well I think Max is a great name for a small boy or an adult.

Plus it's quick to write and easy to spell. Also handy for an "X" example in class!

(I have done a quick total and there are at least 8 in DS2's school of 200 pupils! But that proves nothing, frankly. Another school may have very few. Anyway OP if you are not fussed about popularity then no worries )

I like Benjamin and Edward.

I called my boy Thomas for two weeks but it just never suited him - not he is Matthew (which was not even on my list!)

So maybe wait a while until he is born...you might go for something totally different!

Edward Thomas high on the list for no 3 - helps I like his poetry. But I like all your choices. The only one I've never been keen on is Evan, because I am old enough to remember the seminal documentary 'The trouble with Evan' which was haunting.

All nice, but I'd stick with just Max because Maxim reminds me of a certain men's magazine. Variations you might like:

Edward - Edmund, Edwin, Ted/Teddy
Maxim - Maximillian, Alex, Baxter, Xavier
Thomas - Tobias, Toby
Benjamin - Benedict, Bennett
Isaac - OT names like Caleb, Solomon, Saul
Evan - Avery, Evelyn
Harry - Barry?

Like Max/Maximillian but don't like Maxim.

Edward - very nice, also like Edmund and Edwin
Maxim (or just Max) - like Max if short for Maximillian, not Maxim
Thomas - it's OK
Benjamin - not keen
Isaac - nice
Evan - really like this, also Ethan and Elias
Harry - OK if short for Henry

Maximus or Maxwell also nicer than Maxim IMHO

All the Harrys I know (including my DS) are rather, um, boisterous. Love the name, but am really beginning to think there's something about it......It doesn't seem popular with the others though. I like Max, Sam and Billy. If I had another boy, he'd be a Matt. Bet that doesn't help much!

I like them all except Edward which very common now if that bothers you.
