I really like it, which Winnie as a nickname.

What do you think?

There are some old lady names that haven't made it back - Enid, Ethel, Gladys, Mildred, Hilda, Winifred etc etc. There is a reason why some names, such as Edith, Pearl etc have revived and others haven't. Think about it Wink

Gwendoline - all of your first list is on my list for dc5!!!

SecretNutellaFix · 27/09/2011 17:06

I like Winifred, with Freda as a nickname. Winnie would have too many connotations with a particularly annoying Disneyfied bear.

jandymaccomesback · 27/09/2011 17:06

Makes me think of an old lady with her stockings round her ankles - or Winnie the Witch.

GrimmaTheNome · 27/09/2011 17:08

It was my mother's middle name and she hated it. And she was right about everything.

NurseFleischerBaum · 27/09/2011 17:09

Both Winnie and Winifred me think of braying horses or donkeys. Am not against the revival of old names in general...but Winifred is kind of ugly, sorry.

But I like Agatha, and everyone I know hates it, so maybe I have no taste.

:o

SheCutOffTheirTails · 27/09/2011 18:43

It wouldn't be my choice, but actually I think it's kind of cool.

Winnie is a nice nickname.

rachel1970 · 27/09/2011 18:45

Sounds very masculine to me. I think it is the Fred bit.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/09/2011 20:40

Pooh.

winkle2 · 27/09/2011 22:14

Hate it. Sorry.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 28/09/2011 00:56

Pearl is a terrible name. Give me Winifred over Pearl any day of the week!!

sweetpb · 28/09/2011 08:40

for some reason my sil is called lynsy but my hubby nicknamed her winnie from a really young age and it always stuck between them, (and me oops!) I like it as i have a lovely sil! I personally wouldnt have it as a first name but love the nickname x x

gabity · 28/09/2011 08:48

My Gran's Gran was Winifred, my Gran's Mum was Winifred and my Gran was Winifred - she hated it, but her DH went and registered her daughter's name (my Mum) without telling her Shock, you guessed it my Mum is Winifred too. They all hate it! Needless to say I am not a Winifred!

I love it however and if I ever have any more DDs I will def use it - much to my Mum's disgust!

tummytickler · 28/09/2011 08:53

Oi slinking my 6 year old dd is called Pearl Angry Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 28/09/2011 09:22

tt - pearl is a pretty name - most of the 'jewel' names are.

LittleWhiteWolf · 28/09/2011 18:20

I like it. In addition to Wynn/Winn I'd use Fred as a nn, ala Angel. [nerd emoticon] Grin
