OH loves Ophelia (the only name he has ever come up with and likes)

I like Tabitha and Portia but getting worried that the former sounds like a cat due to unhelpful friends. I don't want pretentious names but I can't help what I like.

So do I please myself or please the masses and opt for a less posh name. What one would you choose?

Ophelia x

PortiaNovmerriment · 26/06/2010 00:10

Portia is pretentious and piggy- go for it!

teafortwo · 26/06/2010 00:25

Why not Ophelie?

It is close to Ophelia but, to my knowledge, doesn't have any tragic connections.

Loriycs · 26/06/2010 01:20

Portia (although spelt differently) is a chav name.
Tabitha is one of my cats names
so of the three i would say Ophelia
I know only one Ophelia so not a common name (last thing you want when she starts school),and its very pretty.

luciemule · 26/06/2010 21:54

Yes - my friend's little girl is called Ophelie - it's french, as she is, and she is gorgeous. It really suits her.

Kathleen123 · 28/06/2010 14:37

Portia's lovely.

Apphia · 28/06/2010 17:07

Ophelia will most likely be the name of dd when she arrives in October. Love it pretentious or not!

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/06/2010 17:12

I love the name Ophelia, however I worked with an Ophelia years ago as a waitress, all the chefs used to call her Ophelia Tits which put me off (I considered it for dd).

Portia - the whole 'did you name her after a car' thing from idiots.

Tabitha I do like very much.

What about:

Seraphina
Octavia
Perdita
Imogen
Aurelia

George2010 · 28/06/2010 17:18

I love them all actually!

pinkfluffysheep · 28/06/2010 17:30

There is a very famous drag act in Newcastle called Ophelia Balls which would make me think twice - but if you don't live anywhere near here nobody would know!

I think Tabitha is really nice, as is Portia but I agree with GetOrf bout the whole car thing.
