Hi all. What are your thoughts on the name Sonny as a middle name? What kind of impression does the name make, how does it sound etc. Thanks!

I knew a Sonnie

not my taste, but nice enough and not laughable

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/06/2010 15:15

we know two Sonny's as first names - one is 14 and one is 2. It really suits them both!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/06/2010 15:15

The 14 is very cool and trendy, the 2 year old is just little and cute!

They are both boys

LilMagill · 17/06/2010 15:17

mmm... I actually think it is laughable. Like the boy equivalent of those 'Boo' type middle names for girls. Or something Jordan might call her next child in the vein of Princess and Junior.

diplodoris · 17/06/2010 17:15

IMO it sounds like a nickname but not a full name.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 17/06/2010 17:31

(again) I agree with diplodoris.
IMVHO - second names are an opportunity to honour or remember someone - friend, relative, historical figure you admire

Love it!

My dd has Sunny as a middle name

Lynli · 17/06/2010 18:02

My DH wanted to call my first born Sonny after Sonny Crockett, Miami Vice. But it was a DD. I wasn't keen, but if you like then that will do.

tummytickler · 17/06/2010 18:43

I like it - I have always liked Sunshine for a middle name though!

diplodoris · 17/06/2010 18:57

Samson means "sun" and could have the nickname Sonny.

minipie · 17/06/2010 18:58

I'd prefer Sunny to Sonny.

Sonny unfortunately reminds me of Sonny and Cher (and he was not a nice man)

Hedwig3 · 17/06/2010 20:03

I like it - spelt Sonny!

RainbowDrops · 18/06/2010 11:10

I love the name Sonny, but I am biased as my DS3 is called Sonny!! We did give him the 'sensible' middle name of Benjamin which I love just as much!! Whether it would be right as a middle name I don't know, I suppose it depends on the 1st name and whether they sound good together.
