What name for our little boy?

Have recently found out bump is a little boy. Have whittled the name list down to 2names - Leo or Miles. Have noticed theres been a lot of love for Leo recently on here - does this mean it is soon to be or already really popular? Do you know any children with either of these names? We are leaning towards Leo but if theres loads of them would rather have Miles. Very confused, cant decide. Any opinion would be appreciated thanks.

I think they are both quite popular, go with your heart (sorry if that's too cheesy )

toja555 · 14/06/2010 13:28

Both names are lovely. I know two Leos (Leonardo, to be precise). I guess I would choose Miles (my personal preference).

mistressploppy · 14/06/2010 13:34

And congratulations on the bump! Boys are best!

minipie · 14/06/2010 13:35

I like both but prefer Leo. Lovely name, and hadn't noticed it being all that popular on here.

makeupmummy · 14/06/2010 13:37

love them both, don't know anyone called either of them! Wait and see what he looks like...!

LostArtofKeepingASecret · 14/06/2010 13:39

Both names are lovely, but not overly used, certainly not in the same league as Oliver or Jack. Go with a name you love and don't worry how popular it is or will be. Anyway, it's impossible to predict which names will be in the top ten over the next few years. All it takes is a new soap character to make a name fashionable.

I love the name Leo. It's a great name. Miles is nice too though. Good choices.

I like the idea of Leonardo (or Leopold!) in full. what about Leonardo Miles or Leopold Miles

coffeefestival · 14/06/2010 13:56

Like both but particularly like Miles.

Very nice names, but Leo pips Miles imo.

winkle2 · 15/06/2010 14:15

I like them both. I like Milo as a nickname to Miles.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 15/06/2010 15:08

prefer Leo

jellybeans · 15/06/2010 16:46

Prefer Leo, Miles seems abit 'plural' somehow.

wickedfairy · 15/06/2010 18:41

Leo gets my vote - have an uncle and cousin of that name. Not short for anything, their full name is Leo (father and son)

3isthemagicnumber · 15/06/2010 18:52

I have a Miles, met 1 other in his whole 10 years so certainly not hugely popular.
I teach Infants; currently have 3 Leos in school spread over the 2 year groups.

In fact, our Miles did use to question wether it was just a word we had used for a name though as he didnt know any others, had to get a baby name book to prove we hadnt just picked a random....

iloveasylumseekers · 15/06/2010 18:58

Leo definitely a bit more popular than Miles (I think Leo is in the top 50 but Miles outside the top 100). I know two (one age 5 one aged 7).

I prefer Leo than Miles, although DH refused to let me put it on the shortlist for DS1 on the grounds that it was "too Pope-ish"...

beccas · 15/06/2010 19:04

I know one young Leo. Its not too popular and a great choice.
Miles is a bit too aristocratic for me.

for our first, we had stanley on the shortlist (had a girl) and it was a totally unheard of not used name. There are 3 stanleys in her nursery now, aged 1, 2 and 3.
you can never predict when a name will become popular.

BridesheadRegardless · 15/06/2010 19:16

Both very nice.

I know one Miles no Leos, so both good on the proper names but not overly used scale.

3rdnparty · 15/06/2010 19:24

Ds has a Milo in his class (age 5) and a few Leo's around both nice names would have gone for Miles out of the two as a few Leos here already... we had whittled down to 2 before and decided once he was born....

Both nice

I would probably go for Miles, maybe with the nickname Milo

diddl · 16/06/2010 08:45

Prefer Leo.

Or "combine" & have Milo?
