Natasha - Lovely name but I think it got a 'chavvy' reputation at one stage
Leonora - Okay, but would get all sorts of mis-pronunciation
Natalie - See Natasha
Celia - Yuk
India - Pretentious
Clara - Nice
Helen - Lovely
Clover - Silly
Lucia - Nice
Lucinda - Okay

EleanorD · 10/06/2010 12:53

Natasha - I like but I prefer some of your others
Leonora - why not more popular?, I really like this and I agree, I don't know why it's not more popular.
Natalie - also really like
Celia - I think this is a lovely name.
India - I know a little girl called India, I think it's a lovely name.
Clara - I also know a Clara who's 3 and I think it's a fab name.
Helen - I don't think it's that common in under 10s at the moment - it's a nice name.
Clover - I think it's pretty but it does slightly make me think of cows for some reason.
Lucia - pronounced like an Italian would?! As in Luchia? or like a varient of Lucy? I quite like it but I'm not completely convinced.
Lucinda - I'm not such a big fan of this one.

Boys:

Alistair/Alasdair/Alastair/Alister - I like all the varients but I think I'd find it a tiny bit annoying always to have to spell it out!
Barnaby/Barnabas (Barney for short) - Barnaby has been top of my boys list for agest now!! I love it and think it's nicely unusual.

I like your list!

jellybeans · 10/06/2010 12:54

Barnaby/Barnabas (Barney for short) ..dislike

Thanks, was thinking more Clover as in What Katy Did, rather than cows....

Leonora - I think - has been around much longer than some of the other Leo names (Leona etc) which for me have more of a made up more recently vibe. Love Leo as a nick name.

I am very fond of Helen - again thinking What Katy Did....

I like Clara best from your list and Alisdair.

pinkmagic1 · 10/06/2010 13:26

Out of your list, I like India, Lucia and Leonora best. Clover is just silly, Clara is a name you would give to a chicken! and like someone else said Natasha, Natalie and Helen are a bit dated.

LarkinSky · 10/06/2010 14:04

Natalie is gorgeous, and I think it's now quite unusual - not dated at all, as it wasn't that popular in the 70s or 80s either? Natasha is a nice Russian version, with gives 'Sasha' as a nickname.

If you don't use it, I think i might for a future dd!

missgenevieveclavel · 10/06/2010 15:37

Natasha- like it.
Leonora - love it!!
Natalie - much prefer Natalia
Celia- like it!
India- v pretty name.
Clara- love it!
Helen- nice but prefer Helena!
Clover- sounds like a cow.
Lucia- love it!
Lucinda- prefer just Lucy.

Boys:

Alistair/Alasdair/Alastair/Alister - okay
Barnaby/Barnabas (Barney for short)- okay

DontCallMeBaby · 10/06/2010 15:42

People say names are dated, but when you know a child with that name, it rapidly just becomes their name, and you don't think of it as dated at all. If you like it, use it.

Declaration of interest - I have a Natalie. It is a relative rarity these days, although sod's law would have it that there is another one (three years younger) just over the road.

My friend has an India, my cousin has an Alastair.

I don't know any Clovers in real life, but if you google 'sesame ellis' you'll find an American blogger/photographer in the US who has twins called Clover and Kieran, and they, little Clover especially are adorable, so that makes me warm to the name!

Theochris · 10/06/2010 16:39

I like Clover, makes me think of WKD too. Not sure I would use it but it is pretty and wholesome

randomimposter · 10/06/2010 16:55

Clara is the nicest of your girls names (Natasha's ok - not keen on the others, though like Helena).
Of the two boy choices I prefer Barnabas.

lidofabiro · 10/06/2010 17:17

I absolutely love the name Natasha, have done for years and always thought I would have a daughter with that name, especially once DH said he liked it too. Naturally, therefore, I had two sons!

India is pretty and I like Clara too.

aspiegal · 10/06/2010 20:16

Natasha - like it a lot
Leonora - I don't like 'nora' on any name. Leonie is nice though!
Natalie - Love it! Also love Natalia
Celia - not really. I like Zelia because close family member is a Zelia
India - I like this one, I think it's pretty
Clara - Okay. Nothing wrong with it, don't particularly like it
Helen - I think it sounds dated
Clover - Can't help thinking of What Katy Did! It's a bit OTT i think
Lucia - very pretty

mathanxiety · 10/06/2010 21:45

Leonora -- love, and don't understand why it's not more popular
Natalie -- prefer Natalia
Celia -- love
India -- dislike
Clara -- like
Helen -- ok, still too much 60s and 70s ish for me
Clover -- cows, agriculture, cloven hoofs, What Katy Did (bored me to death)
Lucia -- like, but prefer Lucy
Lucinda -- like a lot

Boys:

Alistair/Alasdair/Alastair/Alister -- love
Barnaby/Barnabas -- love

No help for the boys' names, sorry.
