...Will it be 2011's Ruby/ Evie etc.. (i.e. a lovely name I hadn't heard in donkey's years and then as soon as you go to a play group you're swamped by them)?

And is it nice??

I'm in Australia too - don't know a single one (except over 30) and I go to loads of playgroups, ballet, swimming classes etc. Gorgeous name - I'd go for it.

iamamess · 10/06/2010 06:47

I like it, don't know of any here, north west england

heronsfly · 10/06/2010 07:16

Im in Kent, very popular here.

HollyGoHeavily · 10/06/2010 07:23

I'm in North West England and it is popular here - there are three at my DDs nursery of 40 kids.

purepurple · 10/06/2010 07:30

Northwest England and very popular. I work in a nursery and we have 3.

SixtyFootDoll · 10/06/2010 07:31

In South Wales is very popular and has been for the past 5-10 yrs, at least two in every scholl year group

Threelittlemoomins · 10/06/2010 08:19

In south-east England and I know at least 5 under 3s called Megan in our small Market town.

piscesmoon · 10/06/2010 08:27

Very popular in SE England.

MagalyZz · 10/06/2010 08:44

Not very. I know of ONE.

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/06/2010 08:46

I don't actually know any where we live (Midlands/Shropshire border) but I do know of 4 non local friends who have young dd's called Megan (3 of them are Welsh). I think its a pretty name and like the nn Meg

lamplighter · 10/06/2010 09:01

My god daughter is Megan, there are three others in her year, my colleague has a Meghan and where I used to work two of my colleagues had a Megan each.

I am in East Anglia so there seems to be a whole bunch of them.

thirtysomething · 10/06/2010 09:17

I know two (Midlands) - one is always known as Meg or Meggie. It's actually not that popular round here compared to Charlotte/Ella/Ellie/Olivia/Jessica sort of names, but it's a beuatiful name! Go for it!

ABitBatty · 10/06/2010 09:21

Isn't it a bit 90's? I know lots of Megans, aged 10-12 but none under the age of 8.

swanandduck · 10/06/2010 13:04

Quite popular in Ireland, but hasn't reached saturation point. Lovely name and I really like Meg as a nn.

muminthemiddle · 10/06/2010 13:06

Quite popular but a very good choice imo!

ShadeofViolet · 10/06/2010 13:11

I dont know any here in the Midlands, its a lovely name though

LynetteScavo · 10/06/2010 13:13

It was popular about 10 years ago, but most of the Megans are about.....10 by now.

helyg · 10/06/2010 13:15

Very popular here, but then I'm in Wales so it has been for a long time.

EffieB · 10/06/2010 13:46

So popular (ish) but not too much it seems- I can handle that level I think! My friend chose a name that she thought (clearly she should have checked on Mumsnet first) would be nigh on unique only to find that it is one of the most common ones at min, she is still a bit devasted about this three years on so trying to check in advance for us!
