I have found a great baby name book which I want to recommend to other expectant parents. Its called The Brilliant Book of Baby Names.

As well as simply listing names alphabetically with meanings, it also groups names to help you find the kind of name you are looking for.

Lists of suggestions include ?If you love Emily, you may also love...?, ?Water names?, ?Catherine's International Variations?, ?Irish names that aren't overused?, ?Music Names?, ?Spanish names beyond Jose and Juan?, ?Names from Books?, ?Names to shock Grandma?, ?If you like Zachary you may love...?, ?Names for a red-headed baby?, ?Names with no nicknames?, ?Names that mean Peace?, ?Antiques ready for restoration? and lots more.

Happy hunting!

my favourite is the baby name wizard which sounds similar

Is that online? I just love the groupings, very helpful.

Also what happened to my formatting?
This is what happens when you cut & paste from Open Office's faux "Word".

Will have a look, I like the sound of historical references.

I really enjoy reading 'The Brilliant Book of Baby Names' too skater. I find it entertaining to read and I like the lists of similar suggestion, etc.

I have never seen 'Oxford Christian Names', Mrs W. I imagine that it would only contain traditional British names though, as opposed to a multicultural selection though- correct me if I'm wrong!
