Any suggestions for girls names?

Well I think the hormones are definitely getting to me, I'm sitting feeling quite tearful that I can't think of a single girls name that I love.

I've always said that I'd call my baby girl Daisy, and my husband loved that name too......unfortunately our close friends called their little girl Daisy so now that's off the list!

Then I started warming to the idea of Lily, and lo and behold another set of friends have just had a baby girl and called her Lily!!!!

So now I can't think of a single girls name that I love. Do any of you ladies have any good suggestions?

I do love Maisie but Mr R will take some convincing as we did have a right grumpy old lady living near us with that name!! It's funny how something like that can totally put you off a lovely name!

Thanks for the suggestions though, I'm making notes!

I can't suggest any names you may like, but I have registered my grandchildren's names as domain names. Of course I had no choice in the actual names, but when they are older they can have websites with their own names as domains. It's not the main concern in choosing a name, of course, but if you can adjust things (perhaps with a middle name too), I am sure they will love you lots and lots later.

Good luck

Wow, some lovely suggestions so far!
I love Dulcie but again, a friend has called her little girl that! Really like Clover and Poppy.
My sister suggested Ivy as ours will be a December baby and I wasn't keen at first but it's growing on me....can't use Hollie as we already have one in the family!

I think Poppy is really pretty

dizzydixies · 06/06/2010 12:59

how about Natalia/ Natalie for a Dec baby?

FionaSH · 06/06/2010 13:26

Poppy is lovely. I love Ruby too, but there are so many at the moment. I think the Natalia idea for a Christmas baby is great, and Ivy is a lovely, underused name imo.

Hedwig3 · 06/06/2010 21:48

Kitty
Ivy
Melody

cazzybabs my problem is that all of my favourite girls names have already been used by friends and family! I've got a fair few suggestions for boys names but struggling with girls!

So far, (mainly thanks to all your help!) I quite like,

Poppy
Clover
Ivy
Elsie - but DH doesn't like this!
Pearl
Corinne

I like names that are cute and unusual without being weird!

I love

Ivy
Elsie
Lexi
Olivia ( my DD name )
Lacey
Evie

liliputlady · 07/06/2010 23:11

A shame about Holly; I love this for a December baby.

Other flowery names I like
Rose/Rosa/Rosie
Flora
Florence
Fleur
Lys
Violet

Can you use Daisy as a middle name?

LuluF · 08/06/2010 08:38

Ianthe - is pretty - means Violet, I believe
Eliza
Tess
Polly
Sally

Amarilis · 08/06/2010 15:14

I hate Ivy - 'poison Ivy' and very predictable for a December baby (but a bit better than Holly or Mary!) What about Posy? Or Peony? Clover is awful - I think of cows and then crappy butter!
