How popular is Grace as a first name?

Sorry for shamelessly stealing the thread title from the lady who wanted to know the same thing about the name Matilda!

I am not pregnant at the moment but have always loved the name Grace. It was also the name of DPs grandmother and it is one of the few names that we both love! I was wondering how many of you know lots of girls with a first name of Grace? I know it is hugely popular as a middle name (along with Rose!) but I work in a school and as far as I know there is one Grace in the whole school who is in year 6. I also know of one girl who recently called her little one this.

Is it really, really popular as a first name? Im not overly bothered about having a really unique name for my child or anything but on the other hand when I look at my facebook friend list and see 9 lauras and 7 emilys on my list it makes me think I dont want something too common!

By the way, I am not some madly broody woman who spends every waking moment of the day contemplating the names of my as yet non-existent children - (I started another baby name thread yesterday!) I just have a lot of school reports to write and this is a good way of procrastinating!

it's number 2 on my baby names list (but that's mainly because the first name i've had chosen since i was about 18!)

DF's mum is Grace, but she was always called by her middle name, Doris. Then she went into a home where they call her Grace (or Gracie) it's weird, because I know her as Doris and feel strange calling her Doris in the home in case the nurses think I don't know her!

Very popular here, more so as a middle name, but I also know of 3 Graces/Gracies 1 year old or under.

no idea how popular it is since I'm overseas. Have only ever met one girl called Grace.

Nice name though

It's a nice name but very popular round here.

I know 3 little Grace's, oldest is 6, then a 5 year old then a 2 year old. It is very popular but that's coz it's lovely.

Fairly ime.

I know about 6 under 8yo, includign 4 in one school year of 80 kids, so 40 girls - that's 1 in 10! I know more young girls called Amelia or Emily or Ellie tho.

I have a bigger problem with the fact that it's a poor choice if you end up with a clodhopper or a child in other ways graceless.

I know one of who my mum was moved to remark "well she doesn't suit her name." (saucer of milk for gran maybe)

Very popular round here, practically every girl preschooler I come across is called Grace, except for the ones called Niamh.

I know lots of older Graces too, including the lollipop lady.
