Leila, Zoe or Hannah?

Hello - baby girl due this week, and all of these first names go well with our surname. I suppose if she is dark, Leila will make more sense, so we should keep an open mind for when we see her, but your thoughts would be much appreciated? Plus - middle names to go with Zoe and Hannah - I'm really stuck!

Thank you for the tip on the dots RLMP. I was just beginning to wonder about that, and thought it was a bit of a palava. Great to find a RL Zoe who went without ...and who is happy with her name. Zoe Abigail is lovely - we already have an Abigail in the family though.

Am so delighted to be going to hospital with 2 solid choices in hand - now if only the baby would decide she is ready to come...

Hannah is wonderful. Zoe is quite nice too but I don't like Leila.

KAEKAE · 04/06/2010 20:11

I suppose Hannah is the best, although I find it incredibly boring and there are so many of them!

bargainhuntingbetty · 04/06/2010 20:15

LOVE Zoe, it was meant to be my name but they changed their minds then it was meant to be my neice's name but they changed their minds too. DH didnt like it when I was PG although now that we have 2 dd's and are having no more babies he likes it . I love Zoe and think that Zoe Charlotte (as sugested by someone else) is lovely. Zoe Leila is also lovely or Leila Zoe

Hannah, although I am biased as my name is also Hannah...

Renault have just brought out a car model called "Zoe"

Yeah, just saw about this on the news. There are two Renault families suing, as they have daughters called Zoe.

Leila is the finest name ever commited to womanhood.
If you call her Leila she will undoubtedly be beautiful, clever and always, always right.

A vote for Hannah from me but all fine names

StiffyByng · 12/11/2010 10:42

There's Hannah Montana of course!

WhyMeWhyNot · 12/11/2010 10:51

Leila's become very common round our way. Lots of variant spellings and mostly being used by the very young mums.

Rhubarbgarden · 12/11/2010 10:55

Prefer Hannah despite it's poparity. Dislike Leila, not overly fond of Zoe but it's okay.

Rhubarbgarden · 12/11/2010 10:56

That should be popularity obviously.

chaya5738 · 12/11/2010 13:33

I love Leila :)

sensiblesusannigella · 12/11/2010 15:12

Yes but the baby was due in June sillies!

lilly13 · 12/11/2010 17:34

Prefer Zoe

TooImmature2BMum · 12/11/2010 21:36

Leila is my sister's name, and no one our age (27) ever references Eric Clapton, although she gets it a lot from men in their forties. I think it's not a massive issue - it never bothered her. Mum says it's also the Juliet character from a Persian/Indian version of Romeo and Juliet - does that make sense? I mean, there is a version of Romeo & Juliet where the female character is called Leila. I have no idea if it's a play, a book or what, or what the guy is called.

BarbieLovesKen · 12/11/2010 21:40

Oh Leila is stunning. I adore this name and it was going to be dds name but we have a surname that begins with L and it just sounded a bit silly really. Sad

Oh I adore it. Classic.

TooImmature2BMum · 12/11/2010 21:47

My sister wasn't dark as a baby, either - blonde until the age of about 10, now medium brown. Although at the time, no one had ever heard of the name Leila and didn't know what it meant - I think it's more widely known now. Or else small towns in Aberdeenshire just aren't au fait with more unusual names!

Blatherskite · 12/11/2010 21:58

My sister is Leilah. She is dark (although was very blonde as a child) and incredibly beautiful and clever :) She does get the Eric Clapton song a lot and was always fed up as a child when she couldn't find her name on rock/mugs etc at the seaside.

My other sister is Hannah. :)

Both good choices IMO.

The only Zoe I ever knew without the dots, pronounced her name Zoh - as her parents had taught her. Always sounded rather pretentious to me.

sensiblesusannigella · 12/11/2010 22:03

Yes but the baby was born ages ago sillies.

BarbieLovesKen · 12/11/2010 22:12

AAAaargh who bumped the thread?? I hate when this happens.

(what was the baby named in the end?)

Komondor · 15/11/2010 11:19

Zoe

zenoushka · 15/11/2010 13:24

I love Leila!
