What do you think of Giles as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

The one I slept with had an awful beige flasher mac.

It's scarred me for life, I still get flashbacks of that mac hanging on my wardrobe door.

Not keen I'm afraid, sorry.

I think it is quite cute, but not enough to use it myself. i would comment on a lovely name if a saw a child called Giles though.

I went to uni with a lovely one though, so I am somewhat influenced by him!

Farmer Giles - piles

Having said that, I have a friend who has a son called Giles and it quite suits him, mostly because they are very countryfied horsey types.

swanandduck · 31/05/2010 14:00

Sounds a bit stuffy and middle aged.

Miles
Charles
James

Fanfare · 31/05/2010 16:27

I really love it, but wasn't brave enough for my DSs, it's quite "green wellies! Also couldn't picture a little baby being "a Giles, but think it would be fab for an older child/man

Fanfare · 31/05/2010 16:28

Sorry, my "" ended up all over the place! Also love Miles as a more mainstream name

IPredictADiet · 31/05/2010 16:29

not keen.
although oddly Miles is our top choice if this PG is a boy.

SambuccaKelly · 31/05/2010 17:18

Farmer Giles
or

Giles Brandreth
Giles Coren
Posh twats

It will probably make a comeback, but personally, I think it is horrid.

sophiesmummie · 31/05/2010 17:44

I like Giles. Nicer than Miles, as the latter is the plural of mile .

eatyourveg · 31/05/2010 17:52

how about myles then? Giles is terribly terrible unless you are the landed gentry type where they are ten a penny

sunchild77 · 01/06/2010 16:43

Giles was my dweeby A-level law teacher. He looked like a balding Milkybar kid
