I love it...is it short for anything?

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/05/2010 23:37

dont think so, - she was an elderly lady but i just loved her name.

Is it short for Dulcimer, or is that a word for something else?

Nyx · 27/05/2010 23:50

Just googled it, a dulcimer is a musical instrument. [I'll get my coat]

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/05/2010 23:53

well if i used the name i would just use dulcie. full stop. almost makes me broody for another girl. i said almost.... (dd is 12, just getting hormonal.) so it will remain my fantasy DD name.

TSC....id sneak it back on your list.

I love all those names....Sadie is great, not heard it for a while

theagedparent · 28/05/2010 06:59

I have a 5 year old Dulcie, beautiful name.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 28/05/2010 07:10

Dulcie is nice. Goes well with my first daughter, too. Wonder if I can convince my husband, though. He's already nixed Winifred and Florence. I don't think he's really a granny chic sort of person.

I know three Sadies under 5, I think it's getting popular aain.

Rocinante · 28/05/2010 07:13

Dulcie was on my list but has been poo-pooed by DH. I was having poncy literary allusions and had taken it as short for Dulcinea from Don Quixote.

Still think it's lovely though.

MarthaQuest · 28/05/2010 07:20

There's a baby Dulcimer in 'At the Back of the North Wind' IIRC- hardly chav

Margeaux · 28/05/2010 07:32

I think it's a beautiful name.

What's the name of the woman who wrote 101 dalmations. Wasn't she Dulcie Smith?

SherbetDibDab · 28/05/2010 08:50

Ignore me. She was a Dodie - short for Dorothy apparently.

treas · 28/05/2010 08:53

Sherbet - that was Dodie Smith, nn for Dorothy apparently.

treas · 28/05/2010 08:54

Oops - cross message

DastardlyandSmugly · 28/05/2010 09:10

I love Dulcie - it's beautiful but my DD has an old lady name so it's probably my thing.

rachel234 · 28/05/2010 09:55

How do you pronounce Dulcie? Dull-chee, Dool-kee? Honestly, I have no idea

sophiesmummie · 28/05/2010 10:41

I'd say Dull-see.

ThatVikRinA22 · 28/05/2010 12:28

yep - its dull-see here too.
