Is it a no-no to give both DC names starting with the same letter?

38 weeks with DC2 and still not decided on a girls name! Boys name is sorted at least.

We have a Polly and I heard a little girl being called Phoebe today in the park and suddenly really like it.

Do you think Polly and Phoebe are too similar? I think the hormones are messing with my brain as I just can't think straight when it comes to girls names anymore!

my bro and sis's names both start with the same letter.
My name and DS's name start with the same letter.

I don't think it is a no-no - just a bit of a PITA when it comes to receiving mail. Give them middle names with a different letter to mark the difference.

I like Phoebe and Polly, btw.

(mind you, I think Oliver and Oscar are a bit too similar but that's just my opinion)

Me and my sister have the same letter, and apart from mum getting us confused when she is talking about us to each other, its not been a problem

I like the name Phoebe and you'll save money on name tapes

blowninonabreeze · 25/05/2010 16:49

Mine have the same initial.

We didn't have any girls names for DD2 when she was born as I was convinced she'd be a boy. In the labour ward I had an epiphany with her name and we both agreed on it immediately.

It was 24 hours later that I realised she would have the same initial as DD1

People always assume it was planned

i think so too thumbwitch but its the only name i came up with that dh would agree to.

swanandduck · 25/05/2010 16:59

Myself and my brother have the same initial.

s'a shame, bamboobutton! So long as you don't have a girl and call her Olivia - that would be too much, no?

bamboobutton · 25/05/2010 17:32

lol, olivia was on the girls list but dh didn't like it

i have a back up boys name so i can pounce it on dh when i'm lying on the operating table, how can he refuse then?!
