It's getting close now to due date.Always loved Finn and Beau but dh hates these!
He liked Inigo,Archer,Kelly and Jesse.
I don't really like any of these.
We already have an Ellis James for ds1.

The only name we see eye to eye with is Rocco.

The middle name would be Alexander. Please tell me what you think.

Thanks

Horrible.
Alexander is much nicer.

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 15:23

So seems like quite a few people like it which is good

Small handful think that it's only ok if I'm Italian.Know so many Luca's that have entered the world recently that are English that seems ok whereas with Rocco is doesn't...

Also don't really like Madonna but still love the name Rocco.Should I not care about what people think?

Would love everyone to love it- if only everything was that easy

Thanks again

Cinderellarach - I personally think it's strange to name a child Luca if there are no Italian connections, the same for Soren if you're not Swedish, or Pablo if you're not Spanish, but that doesn't mean that you can't and shouldn't - it's just that you will be forever explaining that there isn't an Italian connection. But if that doesn't bother you then you should go for it. It is a great name. You shouldn't care what peple think.

(And you wouldn't really want everyone to love it, would you?)

poppydaisy · 24/05/2010 18:28

Any name that is loved by 'everyone' will very soon sound very dated and linked to that particular era. Just like fashion.

Much better to choose a name YOU love that is not loved by everyone and therefore not in the top 10. Also avoids being one of Jack A, Jack B, Jack C etc.

People will grow into almost any name and people's association of a name will change as they get to know a (new) person with that name.

If you and your dh love the name Rocco, I'd go for it!

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 19:46

Thanks you're right I shouldn't care. Also it's very rare for me and dh to actually agree on a name.

Not a fan - still cheering for Alexander here .... Ellis and Alex - sounds fine to me!

Rocco brings to mind Rocky and a really macho image which wouldn't suit a more sensitive boy!

hulabula · 24/05/2010 22:02

Rocco is fine. Yes, it does sound a little latin, but so do lots of other current trendy names (Luca, Raphael etc). If you love it, I'd use it. Sounds good with Ellis.

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 22:08

Thanks hulabula

Didn't think Rocco would get any positive fb but it has.Made me so much more confident to go ahead and use it.

Lovethesea-we love Alex too but alot of people have called ds1(Eliis) Alex as they mishear us or something!Must sound the same.Either that or the way I say it quickly

I like Rocco, and being RC would help.

How about
Austin
Jonah
Roman
Ignatius, nn Iggy (good Catholic name there)
Louis
Arlo

(Have you ruled out Remy then?)

Cinderellarach · 09/06/2010 15:31

Love Roman mathanxiety. Also my father is called Austin!

Yes I've ruled out Remy.Everyone tells me it sounds too much like Rennie tablets(which I've had too take every bloody day during this awful pregnancy!)

Thanks for fb.Only have days left now.

Rocco is a pornstar name if you're not Italian, IMO. But it's your child and if you like it then you should go for it.

Cinderellarach · 11/06/2010 09:18

Ha ha pornstar!!!

It's the only name DH doesn't hate.He said he'd consider Beauregard(then I get to have Beau)but think it's awful...

I don't normally comment on the name pages as I think it is somewhat irrelevant what I think about your name choices but just couldn't help myself when I read that your hubs likes the name Jesse . I have one who is now nearly eleven and every day he just grows more and more into his name. I still love it, don't really find that many others even though it is not 'out there'. I have never regretted calling him it despite strange looks from family and some friends that I ignored.
I guess the point is that if you like Rocco don't be put off by the fact that it is italian and you are not. I'm not italian, neither is my son but he does have an italian surname to go with Jesse and no-one gives it a second thought (or if they do it has never been mentioned)!

Cinderellarach · 13/06/2010 14:04

Thanks for fb

We have a Rocco at nursery and he is such a pleasant boy. So I rate it :D

janeite · 13/06/2010 14:21

Not fond of Rocco, sorry.

Ellis James is gorgeous and feels so much more classic than Rocco.

I love Inigo Alexander.

Cinderellarach · 13/06/2010 14:36

Someone said to me that Inigo sounded like I would be telling my child 'In you go'..
As if it doesn't sound like a real name and a noise!
I can't decide between Beau and Rocco.Although dh hates Beau and doesn't mind Rocco.
There's no boys names that I really like. It's just so hard.If I was having a girl then I would be spoilt for choice..

I like Rocco but agree with what others have said about the Italian link. How about Robert? Or Rowan? I think Ellis and Robert go well together. Also like Ellis and Alex but take your point about them sounding similar.

I love Inigo, like Jesse but not keen at all on Kelly (too girly) or Archer (really?).

Cinderellarach · 17/06/2010 09:41

I've actually been thinking of Rowan! Also Robert is nice without being too ott and it's underated in a good way. Thanks patsy

I prefer Ellis and Rocco.

Thanks sonniebonnie.
