GIRLS
Harriet (Hattie)
Kathleen (Kitty/Kate)
Matilda
Emmeline

BOYS
Theodore (Theo/Teddy)
James
Nicholas (Nick)
Caspar
Harry
Arthur

We're slowly narrowing down our choices, any feedback would be great. We're not finding out the sex of our baby, so need to be prepared with maybe 2 options for boy and 2 options for a girl. Then we can decide on the final name when we meet the baby.

Girl's middle name will be 'Claire', and boy's middle names with be 'Michael Reade' (all family names)

Thanks x

Girls:
Don't like Matilda, never have.
Not keen on Emmeline.

The rest are ok, specially Kitty.

Boys:
Not keen on Caspar

The others are ok. I like Artie for a boy but with my surname it would sound so wrong.

cumbria81 · 21/05/2010 15:11

Harriet (Hattie) - not bad
Kathleen (Kitty/Kate) - quite ugly. Kitty too twee, but I really like Kate
Matilda - but trendy
Emmeline - it's ok but possibly trying too hard

BOYS
Theodore (Theo/Teddy)- awful
James - really like
Nicholas (Nick) - really like (love Nick)
Caspar - the friendly ghost
Harry - inoffensive
Arthur - very unfortunate

flopsy1974 · 21/05/2010 15:11

Harriet and Matilda are my favourite girls names and Harry and Arthur my favourites for boys. Good Luck

Hulababy · 21/05/2010 15:20

Matilda Claire

and

either

Arthur Michael Reade, or
Harry Michael Reade

minipie · 21/05/2010 15:21

Like Emmeline.
Quite like Kathleen - esp nn Kitty.

Really not keen on Harriet or Matilda (ugly names to me).

Really like James
Like Theo/Teddy, Harry and Arthur

Not so keen on Caspar or Nicholas (Knicker-less - though I like Nick).

Your middle names are nice

boogywoogy · 21/05/2010 15:23

Girls - like Emmeline but love Kitty (not keen on Kathleen though)

Boys - not keen on Theodore or Caspar, the others are just 'ok'

JosephineClaire · 21/05/2010 15:28

Thanks everyone so far - just to let you know, where I have put a nn in brackets, this would be for everyday use.

For instance, Kathleen is my grandmother's name which is the main reason it's on the list, but we'd call her Kitty/Kate always. Same for Hattie, Theo & Nick

Matilda - lots of them about (Tilly)

Nicholas (Nick) - not my cup of tea
Caspar - don't like

MunchkinsMumof2 · 21/05/2010 16:29

Theo
Kitty
Emmeline are my faves.

emmyloo2 · 21/05/2010 16:36

Love Harriett and Kitty/Kate.

Boys - love Theodore, Nicholas and Harry.

Favourites - Harriett and Harry I think

Ellokitty · 21/05/2010 17:26

Harriet (Hattie) - Love both.
Kathleen (Kitty/Kate) - Love Kate and Kitty, but not Kathleen. Personally, I think Katherine is much nicer.
Matilda - Okay, not my favourite, but I do like Tilly.
Emmeline - Like.

Theodore - Love
James - Nice but perhaps a bit boring / run of the mill, although not too many little James running around these days.
Nicholas (Nick) - See above
Caspar - The ghost
Harry - Like it as a shortened version of Henry. Not keen on its own, bit of a naughty boy's name.
Arthur - Not at all keen I'm afraid.

There are some lovely names here - especially your girls choices

winkle2 · 21/05/2010 17:29

theo and james for the boys name.

not keen on any of the girls names although Emmeline is unusual without being 'made up' IYSWIM

AndieWalsh · 21/05/2010 17:39

Love Harriet and Emmeline. Not keen on your boys names.

sapell3 · 21/05/2010 18:14

I like Harriet and Emmeline for a girl. Emmeline Harriet would be lovely.

From your boys' names I like Theodore (Theo not Teddy), James, Nicholas and Caspar.

mathanxiety · 21/05/2010 20:34

I love Kathleen (greatly underused, imo)and Nicholas.

AnathemaDevice · 21/05/2010 21:22

Kathleen and Nicholas.

DS is Nicholas but would have been Kathleen (Kitty for short) had he been a girl.

jellybeans · 21/05/2010 22:09

Harriet (Hattie) DISLIKE
Kathleen (Kitty/Kate) DISLIKE
Matilda LIKE ALOT
Emmeline DISLIKE

Theodore (Theo/Teddy) LIKE THEO
James OK BIT DULL
Nicholas (Nick) REALLY LIKE IT
Caspar DISLIKE
Harry LIKE
Arthur DISLIKE, OLD MAN

Avocadoes · 21/05/2010 22:29

Matilda Claire is lovely.

Not so keen on your other girls names but none of them are terrible. I quite like Hattie.

Theodore is nice but very, very popular nowadays. James is nice but dull. I like Nicholas but not Nick. Caspar will always be a friendly ghost to me. Harry I like but I would use Henry as the fullname. I like Arthur known as Art.
