Considering these now. What's your opinion and can you suggest nice nicknames please. Alternatively, other fairly traditional 2/3 syllable names with nice nicknames.

Juliet. But don't really like it shortened!

Also like Rosamond (Ros, Rosa), Miranda and Isabel. And Alexandra (Alex, Sandie, Lexie)

BoldChislers · 20/05/2010 09:34

Susie or Susannah or Juliet.

Jemima is nice too.

Ponders · 20/05/2010 09:35

I like Susannah (or Susanna) best of those.

Also like Joanna/Johanna.

You could have Anna or Annie from either, then Susy/Jo/Joey

I spoke to someone called Roxanne yesterday - I love that (because of the song!)

Or Rhiannon? (ditto)

(I like Miranda too, SoMuch, but the only obvious nn for that is Randy )

BallpointPen · 20/05/2010 09:36

Out of those I like Susannah the best with nn Susie or Suze.

Hannah- not many nn for that
Georgina- Georgie, Gina
Annabel- Anna, Bella
Jessica- Jess, Jessie

orti · 20/05/2010 09:37

SoMuchToBits, I love Miranda but not sure how to shorten it nicely.

Susannah is my favourite although I like all of them.

MumChlo · 20/05/2010 09:43

Juliet or Juliette - Julie, Jule
Susannah - Sue, Susie

But i prefer to Juliet.

Tobermory · 20/05/2010 10:03

orti, we had a few of those names on our shortlist for a while.

I like, Jemima, Lucille and Felicity.

Juliet looks nice but for me loses something when said out loud and becomes a bit of a nothing name.
Susannah, reminds me of childhoold friends and have close family with one of the commonly used nicknames so would not choose it.

George2010 · 20/05/2010 10:39

I know a Juliet and Jemima and the names are never shortened.....both lovely names, Lucille is really nice and a bit unusual too.

OrmRenewed · 20/05/2010 10:46

Juliet or Felicity. Not keen on the others. Like Felicity best.

EleanorD · 20/05/2010 12:35

Love Jemima. I do prefer it long but I've heard it shortened to Mima or Jemma before. Also like Felicity - I've heard it shortened to Fliss before.

NeverFallLove · 20/05/2010 13:12

I vote for Lucille.

swanandduck · 20/05/2010 13:19

Susannah and Juliet are the nicest. I also like Felicty, not mad on Jemima and I hate the name Lucille.

Pasiphae · 20/05/2010 14:43

Juliet and Lucille are fab!

nicknames: Juliet gets Jules. Lucille gets Lou or Luce or Cillie/Cilla

other idea: Josephine: Posy
Seraphine: Phine.
Violet and Vivien: Vi/Vivi.
Florence: Flo/Flossie
Harriet: Hetty
Camille: Cami
Philomene: Phil/Philo
Marie or Marianna/Mariane: Molly
Mirabel: Mira/Mirie or Belle
Dorothea: Dot/Dottie.

SE13Mummy · 20/05/2010 18:20

Of your choices I like Susannah, Jemima and Felicity. I'd go for Anna/Zannah, Mima and Fizzy as nicknames for those.

We considered Felicity for DD1 but went for Harriet (aka Hattie). Another name we considered was Bethany (nn Beth or Annie). For DD2 we considered Keziah (nn Kizzy) but chose Miriam who is known as Mim.

How about Imogen? Mo, Jen or Jennie could be nicknames.

mrsbuggywinkle · 20/05/2010 18:45

We have a Felicity...I love it and don't know anyone else with the name. We call her Fliss or Lici...or Fish, but that is just us being odd.

oddgirl · 20/05/2010 18:51

Im with mrsbuggywinkle-love felicity and Flick/Fliss-think its a really cool name-bloody wish Id though of it for my DD
