What do you think of Jasmine?

What do you think of Jasmine as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

My eldest daughter is called Jasmine. We had a few names but when she was born it just suited her. Princess Jasmine in Aladin really helps as we can buy Jasmine dolls and Jasmine bits and bobs from Disney Stores (really good when you are 6). My Jasmine is a true beauty with golden brown ringletts and beautiful soul. It helps she is the only Jasmine in her year and very proud of being named after the sweetest smelling flower (Isley Brothers summer breeze....say no more.)

My DD is called Jasmine and I love it. I did have doubts though just before and just after she was born as everywhere I went I seemed to bump into people who's DD had the same name.

My DD thinks she is princess Jasmine and she loves the fact their are flowers with her name.

Exactly - Princesses and Flowers - what more does a girl need in life?!

It's lovely.

GenevieveHawkings · 15/05/2010 00:11

OK but a bit like the female equivalent of Josh.

oceryo · 15/05/2010 00:13

I like it.

KidsRock · 15/05/2010 00:23

I like Genevieve...

QOD · 15/05/2010 09:10

My dd is Jasmine
Booful girls name - I blame Nurse Jasmine (Angela Griffin) for making the name popular. I named dd then she came along on Holby City, and was soooooooo beautiful and such a girly name. There are several younger Jasmines in her school (well actually 1 Jasmine and 1 Yasmine) and dance classes etc

BridesheadRegardless · 15/05/2010 09:24

I don't like it because Jasmine bushes smell like sperm and make me heave.

but don't worry, all you with lovely DD's called Jasmine, I seem to be the only person who has noticed this, but IT DOES!!

KidsRock · 15/05/2010 09:46

Personally, I don't like Jasmine, I'm afraid. But why are you asking us for our opinons? Are you looking for reassurance or an honest opinion?

GenevieveHawkings · 15/05/2010 09:59

Am I to assume from that comment KidsRock that you have a Jasmine or a Josh?

I take your insult in the spirit it was made but Genevieve is not my real name. It was a totally random choice and I can't say I like it much either.

Psammead · 15/05/2010 10:12

Jasmine was high on our final list - lovely name

tiredmelly · 15/05/2010 12:53

Everytime I see a Jasmine plant I am going to think of sperm now

CantSupinate · 15/05/2010 13:09

I don't mind it, but It doesn't do anything for me, either. EXTREMELY popular around here, only beaten by variants of Isabelle.
