Seen a few May's and a lot of Mae's but I realy like Mei. Just Mei.

mei-mei is a Chinese term of endearment, so to me it does sound lovely. And it is pronounced may-may.

BUT I agree with the poster who would expect a person of Chinese descent to arrive if told Mei was coming.

I wouldnt use it for a Caucasian person, but thats just me.

My dd's middle name is Mai (Welsh roots), said My not May. I agree that I would expect a girl called Mei to be of Chinese descent, but think it's very pretty.

May or Mae are better

But "Meh" as an expression is a fairly recent word, destined to be in use for a couple of years and disappear, surely. I'd have thought that by the time any little Mei is about 3 no one will be saying Meh any more.
