Silke

[Psammead]

Not a name I am going to use - it's actually my SIL's name and I always thought it was very beautiful. It's pronounced SILK-a.

Just wanted to share it and to see what other people think of it.

The -ke bit means that it is a diminutive of another name; but I'm not sure of the original longer name.

eg. Femke - literelly 'little woman' from the french femme;
Mieke - from Anne-Marie- Annemie- Mia -Mieke.

Another version is the -je ending-

Anja- from Anje- meaning little Anne.

I love it.
