Hi,
can you tell me what you think of these names?
Family history suggests baby's name starts with D but I have two little suggestions of my own...

Boys Girls

Alex Daisy

Dale Danielle

Daniel Darcy

Dean Deanna

Dominic Demi

Drew Xanthe

Duncan

Many apologies that this is another thread but my previous one didn't have the girls names on!!

Daniel for a boy - slightly biased as my little boy is Daniel! I like Drew too though.

Girls.... I dont really like any of them to be honest. I would prefer Daniella to Danielle.

mopsyflopsy · 09/05/2010 20:29

I wouldn't choose any, personally. But they are all perfectly acceptable names.

halfawake · 09/05/2010 20:30

I like Daniel or Dominic for a boy, Daisy or Darcy for a girl.

gingerkirsty · 09/05/2010 20:31

Delilah?

HinnyPet · 09/05/2010 20:33

Think it'd be a problem as the grandparents already have a grandson Daniel? I really like it too.
Our 3 syllable surname begins with R so I was a bit dubious about Drew, though I do like it!!

I like Daniel and Daisy.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/05/2010 21:18

Definitely Duncan or Dominic for a boy.
Danielle for a girl.

oceryo · 09/05/2010 21:22

I like Alex or Daniel for a boy. Duncan is OK.

Daisy or Xanthe for a girl, or Daniella (with an a).

Also like gingerkirsty's suggestion of Delilah.

hollyhobbie · 09/05/2010 21:22

Dulcie for a girl?
We have a Daniel too

randomimposter · 09/05/2010 21:23

Donovan or Duirmuid or Dermot

Daniella or Davina

from your choices, I would say Drew /Daisy are the best

Dh likes Dean and Duncan, we have to also fit "john" in somewhere if a boy!!
He also likes Darcy.

I like Dominic and Darcy best..

Dd loves Daisy, it's the name of her imaginary little girl, but dh doesn't like the name.

I also like Darcy and Dominic best.

mathanxiety · 10/05/2010 02:06

Dominic, Duncan and Xanthe are the only ones I like from your list.

How about

Drusilla
Dinah
Dionne
Dora
Dagmar
Dahlia
Desiree
Darina
Daria

Time to change the tradition!

Only like Daniel & none of the girls names.

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2010 11:35

Are you cool with having to stick to a D name then or would you prefer not to? [noisy old bad smiley]

I only like Dominic and Xanthe. Like Donovan and Declan from other posts.

LouMacca · 10/05/2010 12:17

Agree with diddl. Only like Daniel from that list!

Eglu · 10/05/2010 12:19

Daniel is so overused.

I like Daisy from your list and Delilah from other suggertions. Also adore Xanthe.

For boys not keen on any of those. Drew is the best though.

BallpointPen · 10/05/2010 12:20

Daniel or Alex or maybe Dominic.

Don't like any of the girls.

DumpyOldWoman · 10/05/2010 12:27

It's a tradition, not a law.

Don't discuss it with the GPs, just pick a name you really like, whatever it starts with.

Go as far as a D middle name if you really want.

But unless there us a D name you want, don't be hel over a barrel.

SpiderWilliam · 10/05/2010 13:01

There was a little girl called Dymphna (not sure if that is the correct spelling) at my school. Gorgeous Irish name. When I suggested it to my DH he choked laughing

diddl · 10/05/2010 13:12

Can only think of Della, Dominique & Dorcas!

Magaly · 10/05/2010 13:31

Donald or Dominic for a boy. Really love both of those. I also like Duncan. Lots of great D names for boys!

For girls it's trickier but i do really like

Delia
Dulcie

Magaly · 10/05/2010 13:33

I love Diarmuid too.

Dympna is a rosary bead clacker's name!
