Are there any Cornish MNetters out there? How popular is Piran?

DH is quite keen on Piran ATM but I've always thought of it as being one of the most popular Cornish names. We don't have any other DC and none of our friends have children, so I have no idea if he would end up being one of eight other Piran's in his class, or if it would just be a nice, unusual Cornish name.
Anyone living in Kernow got any thoughts?

I'm from Cornwall and I've never heard of a Piran before, although I'm not overally keen on Cornish names anyway...good luck deciding

The only Cornish name I like for a boy is Ennor. Piran's alright, but I can't stand names like Jago and Mungo.

lidofabiro · 05/06/2010 14:43

How is it pronounced?

We know one Piran but we are in London.

There was a thread a few weeks back about Cornish baby names, did you see it?

I don't know any Pirans in Cornwall (or London). I think Jago is the most used Cornish boys name at the moment. I like that too though.

Go for Piran, he'll think he has a whole saints day dedicated to him!

I know a Perran, of Cornish stock - but I'm fairly sure it's spelled Perran not Piran (or are there two separate names?).

Piran is the saint
