Ishani or Kaira - what do you think?

So, I thought we'd decided the name for DD3 but we've changed our minds (again!!!). We were never this indecisive before.

Any thoughts on
Ishani (current fave)
and Kaira ???

What sort of names are they?

Not overly keen on Ishani.

Is Kaira pronounced Kyra?

BessieBoots · 28/04/2010 16:42

Nice names, prefer Kaira.
Congrats! Can you tell us the names of your Dds or do you not want to be identified?

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/04/2010 16:43

Not my cup of tea, but Ishani is better that Kaira (her name will always be spelled wrong).

alyssa1980 · 28/04/2010 16:46

DDs are mixed race so we're looking for names that work here and in India. Other DDs are Aliya and Marissa.

Yes it's Kyra (as opposed to Keira) - I like that spelling.

Not keen on either of them, particularly.

Indian friends who've had daughters recently have used Amaya, Nilaya and Amaeya - I personally think they're all a lot prettier.

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/04/2010 16:51

Yes Ishani goes very well with your other names I think.

A friend had a baby a couple of months ago (Indian couple), and called it Farah, I love that name.

alyssa1980 · 28/04/2010 16:56

I love Farah too but DH won't let me have it!

We're avoiding names beginning with A as the DD2 will be the only one in the family who's name doesn't start with A! Otherwise love Amaya...

Farah is lovely.

Kamali
Kimaya

(two Indian sisters I know).

Are your family Sikh, Muslim, Hindu etc? Might make a difference! (sorry if on wrong track)

alyssa1980 · 28/04/2010 17:01

Doesn't really make a difference. DH is English, my family are Hindu. DD1's name is Hebrew/Islamic (so we've covered all her bases!) and not really sure of origin of DD2 but we love the name.

Keep the suggestions coming - although I might suggest Farah again....

Ooh yes do have Farah, i think it is a beautiful name (as is Fariyah (sp?))

sweetkitty · 28/04/2010 17:12

Like Ishani better

alyssa1980 · 28/04/2010 17:15

Just looked at my shortlist (before dh got involved!) and am thinking again about Naima or Thea???

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 28/04/2010 17:16

Thea is really pretty

what about Talia?

ib · 28/04/2010 17:16

I love Kaira, but she will have it misspelt all her life

GladioliBuckets · 28/04/2010 17:33

My favourite Indian girls' names:
Dana (Bhuddist concept of charity)
Shantih
Mina
Nikita
Priya

Kaira goes better with your other two and is lovely. Naima is gorgeous (as somebody mentioned) & my sister is a Dana Gladio, the Iranian meaning of that is 'wise' apparently (My parents chose Iranian/English names for us). Farah is also lovely, it's a name I'd love to use one day but wouldn't be able too

missyfafa · 29/04/2010 20:26

Is Naima pronounced NI-EEM-A?

cupofteaplease · 29/04/2010 20:30

What about Medha- I think this name is so pretty and reminds me of a meadow...
