Would love some opinions on Miriam please!
This is one of the top contenders for dc5 (when I am finally pg - 'tis taking forever!), but dh starting to feel a bit unsure of it now.

So what do you think?

I love the name Miriam - and Miri. My surname starts with an M though, so its a non-starter for us.

chaya5738 · 22/04/2010 20:42

I absolutely love it - our next will hopefully be Miriam (Miri as a nn)

Surprise · 22/04/2010 20:45

Lovely. Would be one of my choices if I was having another one (which I won't be!)

SillyTillyBilly · 23/04/2010 08:33

I just realised it is the name of Nick Clegg's wife.

AmeliaEarhart · 24/04/2010 20:06

Love, with Miri for nn. It was my first choice for a girl until this morning, when Mr Earhart told me didn't like it

I have 6 months to change his mind!

ooh yes lovely name. I would have called dd Miriam if dh had liked it. But we all have very biblical names - which is no bad thing - but we did try to break the mould a bit with her!

wahwah · 25/04/2010 14:10

Beautiful name, was on list for Dd, but we went Welsh in the end to match her brother. I also loved Maryam...

venusonarockbun · 25/04/2010 14:21

yes - a good proper name.

TrillianAstra · 25/04/2010 14:23

Really like it.

EggyAllenPoe · 25/04/2010 14:25

love it - though can't use it yself as was my Dbros girlfriend and i don't think he'd like it.

Magaly · 25/04/2010 15:19

I love it!

Some people won't be ready for it yet but imo it's beautiful and elegant. If you want to do the cutesy cutesy thing you can use Mimi 'til she's about 4!

padraig · 25/04/2010 15:38

No good can come from Mimi.

3billygoatsgruff · 25/04/2010 15:38

I'm not massively keen but do have a friend called Miriam who we call Mil for short, which I really like.

Magaly · 25/04/2010 15:41

Well although I like Mimi, I would definitely suggest phasing it out fairly early on. You can't be a Mimi when you have your second teeth. (jmo)

EricNorthmansmistress · 25/04/2010 21:33

I love this name. SIL is Merieme which is another lovely variation. She sometimes gets called Memti (but they aren't english)

piscesmoon · 25/04/2010 21:47

I think it is pretty and unusual.

bigstripeytiger · 25/04/2010 21:52

It makes me think of Miriam Stoppard. Sorry.

bokki · 25/04/2010 22:27

one of my little sisters is called miriam. shes known more as little mim, which i think is gorgeous, but i think the name miriam is as someone else said a bit prim and old fashioned

SE13Mummy · 25/04/2010 23:24

I'd be quite happy if my Miriam turned out to be prim and old fashioned... at the moment she's doing a good line in assertive and loud!

duchesse · 25/04/2010 23:31

I know a lovely Miriam in her 70s, shortened to Mim, who is clever and kind and very active in many different areas. I think it's timeless and lovely.

duchesse · 25/04/2010 23:33

Bluebump, does your great aunt live near Pinhoe? (wondering if it's the same Mim!)

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 27/04/2010 10:26

Duchesse - the Mim I mentioned lives near Pinhoe. I grew up in Broadclyst and she's a good friend of my parents. Lovely lady

duchesse · 27/04/2010 10:47

Probably the same one then! I live in Broadclyst parish. Small world.
