We've had flower names, but what do you think of this?

I have been struggling to think of an individual girl's name, and was thinking maybe something like Foxglove. Now though, i've had a brainwave after seeing the word in Active Convos....

Aubergine!

It's gorgeous. But I haven't heard of any vegetable names that I can think of. Is it too Out There? The sound is just so lovely and softy and exotic. And people should be able to spell it too. Verdict?

OMFG

Now I've read that thread, and it's a name thread .

It's in Chat fgs. Why can't people stick to the right topic? Now I know somebody else is going to use it

IlooklikeGrotbagstoday · 06/04/2010 18:47

I think you definately are a preggobrain if you are serious

BitOfFun · 06/04/2010 18:48

Hormones are funny things.

personally I think Cauliflower is nice. You could have Flower or Cauli as NNs.

Fel1x · 06/04/2010 18:52

Eggplant?

Wanderingsheep · 06/04/2010 18:53

Aubergine is a bit poncy for my tastes.

What about Carrot? Or Parsnip might be nice for a boy!

Carrot is just so ginger though. But if it were pronounced differently- perhaps French-style like Carot (Carrow)? That is rather pretty.

Grotbags- no need to be rude though

I just want something different and pretty. i can't see why that's a problem.

pmsl @ carrow Caulifleur.

What about petit pois?

nighbynight · 06/04/2010 19:04

Parsley
Thyme
Rosemary
Pepper
Fennel

Aubergine is gorgeous and exotic, but conjures up images of a round, purple vegetable.

preggobrain · 06/04/2010 19:06

Fennel is nice. I don't like Fenella Fielding though, after seeing her on Countdown once and she seemed a bit thick.

lol!

What about something more exotic?

Zucchini
Cassava
Plantain

Or Asparagus, with Gus for short? Inspired!

preggobrain · 06/04/2010 19:08

Cassava

I likey...

BessieBoots · 06/04/2010 19:08

Personally I love Artichoke. Middle name Mai-Mutha.

preggobrain · 06/04/2010 19:10

Isn't Mutha rude though? And a bit common-sounding with the gangsta overtones? Not keen, sorry.

I actually quite like Pepper. Sometimes I think it's just as well that I never got to name my DC.

BitOfFun · 06/04/2010 19:12

My dog is called Pepper

Doozie · 06/04/2010 19:13

You can't be serious?! Poor child.

How about Augustine - sounds similar.

BessieBoots · 06/04/2010 19:16

Or Avocado. Ocado for short- Then you'll sound dead posh when you call him in for tea.

Maris Piper?

Kale?

Broccoli?

bran · 06/04/2010 19:19

I quite like Kale and Maris Piper too. Time to get some pets to use up some names I think.

preggobrain · 06/04/2010 19:20

I am completely serious

Maris Piper is beautiful. I might consider that- perhaps I could reverse the order? I suppose potatoes aren't the most glamorous vegetable. I am leaning towards Cassava at the moment though. I can't wait to show dh my list.

I suspect that Maris Piper might have been named for a person, Maris is not that uncommon a name in the USA.
