It's the name of Hannah Montana's brother in the programme so no way.

Fimbow · 05/04/2010 12:43

Not one for me.

I love this name! I really wanted it for my baby (I'm 10 weeks PG) but everyone I mentioned it to hates it with a passion. When I hear the name I think of Jackson Pollock, but unfortunately most people think of Michael Jackson.

sparkleshine · 05/04/2010 13:29

Agree with jellybeans. Jackson and Harrison are prob the only names along with Ashton i like. Depends what your suranme is though.

I do know a donavon and Jagger

janeite · 05/04/2010 16:56

If Katherine Flett has one, that is another reason to not use it imho.

It's not naff. It's just a surname.

OTTMummA · 05/04/2010 19:59

thanks spider! I love it and still do, i had 3 names i loved they were:

Jaxon red- boy.
Kahlo James - ( for a girl or boy after my fave artist ).
and
Billie Love for a girl.

But DH hated them all lol.

clpsmum · 06/04/2010 12:45

gaelicsheep ALL JACKSONS ARE NOT NAMED AFTER MICHAEL JACKSON!!!! sorry for shouting but it drives me insane when people think this

i have a jackson (my maiden name, as i am an only chld and name would end with me) It is very cool and suits him and is not too unusual its ridiculous and can be shortened to Jack if he wants it to be. It is not a fad name as there are Jackson Brown, Jackson Pollock, Jackson Flynn to name but a few so this name has been around a while. It is very popular in the states and growing in popularity here. I love this name and am soooooo glad i called my darling son it as i can't imagine him being called anything else. As for all those people who think its naff ignore them. i personally think James, Arthur, William, Harry etc are naff but that's what people on here seem to love

foxyD · 06/04/2010 15:43

Naff in the extreme

Ineedsomesleep · 06/04/2010 15:46

Great for a cat or dog.

msrisotto · 06/04/2010 15:50

naff

5DollarShake · 06/04/2010 15:52

Not to my taste. I think it could veer dangerously into naff territory, but on the right child would not necessarily be naff.

DastardlyandSmugly · 06/04/2010 16:04

I like it and would also think of Jackson Pollack.

DomesticG0ddess · 06/04/2010 19:04

I have a Jackson! I am surprised so many people think it is naff, but I do love surnames as first names: Harrison, Morgan, Bailey, etc - would love a Jones or a Parker if I was brave!

I have so many people who comment on what a great name it is, I guess there are not many MNers round here!

DomesticG0ddess · 06/04/2010 19:05

Coco78, go for it! No one has ever mentions Michael Jackson to me, except in Egypt recently and it was a real ice breaker with the locals (plus DS v cute, so that helped).

MadameCastafiore · 06/04/2010 19:07

Ooohhh I detest all those sorts of names - Bailey, Morgan, Harrison and Jackson or even Jaxon if you want to indulge the naffness even further!

OTTMummA · 06/04/2010 19:13

some ppl have no imagination!
if you love it and he comes out looking like a jackson go for it
better that than a beige one that does nothing for you.

DomesticG0ddess · 06/04/2010 19:13

Hannah Montana??? I am 34, how would I even KNOW that?!

mojomama · 06/04/2010 19:22

ignore the meanies: i know a v cute Jackson (born before MJ's demise but still tiny). i suspect it will be shortened to Jack -as long as you're happy with that (are there not enough already?!) go for it.
i also know a v v gute Donovan - shortened to Donnie.

and for those Morgan haters out there, please remember that Mawgan is a Cornish name (v popular too) so please try to suppress your "shudders" if you hear it being bellowed on a Cornish beach!

mojomama · 06/04/2010 19:24

(that should be cute* Dononvan...)

evesnee · 06/04/2010 21:00

Thanks all, I think i've been put off it now

Reminds me of the American runner in Chariots of Fire, so it says cool 1920's to me.
