I think Isobel is prettier than Isobella, and can be Belle for short.

p.s. I don't actually know any amelias.

Isabella is gorgeous.

Isabella is a lovely name, and is a strong enough classic to withstand popularity (which I think is waning, round here at least).

Several ways to shorten it: Izzy, Issy, Isa, Bella, Bel, Ella, Sable.

Amelia because with Isabella I always hear the unfinished question I'm afraid.

Isabella!

(My Dd is known as Bella by us, Izzy by friends.)

mopsyflopsy · 10/02/2011 09:47

There are 2 Isabellas in dd's class of 13. It is a lovely name but for me it has become too popular. I'm not keen on any of the nicknames either, especially Izzy or Belle.

I prefer Amelia - yes also popular but I prefer the sound of it and it won't need shortening.

Amelia is on our shortlist too. I always loved the name, before it even hit the top 50, but now I'm put off by how common it's become. Also at Xmas an Amelia stole my cab :(

However husband adores the name and he'll probably win.

Isabella gets my vote.
