I love Barnaby and Gregory and Emily.

lifeas3plus1 · 03/04/2010 22:54

I love Alec or Alex.

Freda and Holly are the best from the girls list.

VMumToBe · 03/04/2010 22:59

Thank you both - I am glad there is more than one option from each of the lists from everyone's comments so far - phew! Off to take belly to bed now (oh yes, and the husband!)

Stuart and Hannah -but all OK but please, please NOT Freda. I know an old lady who has hated it all her life. At the age of 5 she tried to pretend on starting school that it was something else! She still hates it now.A dire name.(Like Elsie, Ethel, Mildred, Muriel and Hilda-they should never make a come back!)

janeite · 03/04/2010 23:16

Really, really dislike Gavin and Lucinda, sorry.

piscesmoon · 03/04/2010 23:19

Having said OK- I dislike Gavin and Lucinda too! Lucy is nice.

jabberwocky · 04/04/2010 02:15

Boys
I like Alec, Patrick and Stuart

Girls
I like Emily, Hannah,Lucinda and Rosanna

twosofar · 04/04/2010 07:44

Boys
Alec - very middle aged, reminds me of Malcolm
Barnaby - bit twee, esp if he turns out a bin man or a rugby player
Gavin - bit 70's /80's
Gregory - dislike
Patrick - love this, know a Patrick with Patch as a nickname
Stuart - again a bit 70's/80's

Girls
Emily - boring but nice
Freda - ooh love this
Hannah - boring but nice
Holly - boring, not nice
Imogen - pretty
Lucinda - pretty
Rosanna - very pretty and love Rose/Rosie as a nn

So Patrick, Freda or Rosanna for me!

WilloughbyWallaby · 04/04/2010 09:11

Love Imogan, really wanted it for DD but DH vetoed totally. Apparently Shakespeare made it up!

Not a fan of any of the boys names, and not especially keen on Freda, Lucinda or Rosanna.

Emily, Hannah, Holly and Imogen are all lovely but I'd start from scratch from the boys, TBH. When DH and I were chosing names we came across a book of names from 1913 and chose from that. Obv, there were lots of granny names like piscesmoon says, but there were also loads of really great, unusual names.

Hassled · 04/04/2010 09:13

Patrick or Alex and Freda or Rosanna.

notsochickchickchicken · 04/04/2010 09:24

I really like Gregory and Greg.

I love Imogen and Hannah.

Not keen on any of the others.

VMumToBe · 04/04/2010 11:51

Wow guys what a great load of opinions - thank you very much for your input.

Especially love the idea of the 1913 book WW - do you still have it and if so could you tell me title / author etc? Would love to track it down.

You're right that the boy's list isn't as strong as the girl's - maybe that's because we are convinced that we are going to have a little lady!!

Would love some name suggestions on the boy front though - as you can see from the above we are on the more classic side of names and definitely something that is quite easy to pronounce - look forward to hearing from you!
