Sorry to start a new thread, but I forgot to ask about Sally in my Hazel thread.
Opinions please
I dont understand why it is not popular like Molly, Millie, Maisie etc? Is there something wrong with it that I don't know about? Dh adores it so I have promised to seriously consider it, whilst drawing up my long list!

Like it! time for a revival. But then again, I like Julie too

FloweryTwats · 03/04/2010 20:33

Lovely, like Susie too

upahill · 03/04/2010 20:37

Sorry but the first thing that came into my head was' Aunt Sally' which means metaphorically something that is target for criicism.

Ok slightly better than Hazel where two things that come into my mind
1 The bloody irratating Hazel Blears.
2 The fat bespectacled Hazel....... who bullied me at school.

LiquoriceLila · 03/04/2010 21:43

I think its an awful name, sorry

LaRagazzaInglese · 04/04/2010 00:00

OP - I told my sister to get on here, now that she's a mum and all, but she hasn't got round to it. I recognised your DCs names, i'm not so bothered about discretion i posted on a 'cerys' thread, and if i google myself it comes up with fb anyway! So are you thinking of a 5th DC? xcx

Sally is short for Sarah. Lovely name. I know a couple of Sallys - both friends of mine not children. Not keen on Hazel. But Sally is great.

TallestTower · 04/04/2010 00:06

Oh, it's lovely. I wonder why it's not so popular now. One of my best friends at school was called Sally. Beautiful, clever, witty. It's a good name.

tummytickler · 04/04/2010 08:53

LaRagazzaInglese - Yeah - been trying for a while, but had mc in January, so still trying! We were going for 6, but we will see how we go with 5, as busy with work etc too! Maybe if R came on here I would be able to get hold of here easier than on her mobile! Nice to 'see' you!

So sorry to hear about your MC, hope it all goes well with TTC no.5, good luck xcx

Fliight · 05/04/2010 08:11

Sorry but there's something I really don't like about it.

It was so ubiquitous in those 1970s comics (pippin I think? with the dolly dolls, and all that) and even then it felt old fashioned to me at the age of 5...the kind of name old ladies thought was 'young'.

Dolls often used to be called it. Yet I rarely met a real live one.

It just has connotations but can't quite put my finger on what they are

Lovethesea · 05/04/2010 10:13

I'd prefer it as a nn for something more 'whole' (weird feeling I know but ....) like Sarah.

Lora69 · 05/04/2010 23:32

Boring, dated, dogs name

swanandduck · 12/04/2010 10:06

Lovely, really pretty name.

florence2511 · 12/04/2010 15:40

I love it and we are seriously considering it even though I'm Sarah and my half Sister is Sally!!!!!

TadBitStrange · 14/04/2010 19:09

I love it! I know a sixteen year old Sally who is very intelligent and witty. I think it's a really lovely name, I prefer it to Hazel.

Wallysade · 21/02/2013 12:41

Its my name and I love it! Im not drippy or wet and I like to think I'm of a cheerful disposition! Grin

Seriously - my name very rarely gets shortened by anyone and I have never been in a situation where there is two of us! It makes me feel quite unique without being too pretentious.

If your looking for a second childs name to go with Sally, my sister is called Nancy and I always thought they went very well together - my mum & dad did well!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 21/02/2013 13:08

Fwiw have yet to meet an unpleasant or unkind person called Sally, they are always warm hearted and very genuine people.

(Am not called Sally btw!).

Bonsoir · 21/02/2013 13:17

Sally (or Sallie) is a lovely name, especially when it is a nickname for Sarah.
